Domain selling = mafia?

I feel like this should not be a thing. That you can sell domains for what ever price you want.

It shouldnt be first come, first served.

I'm trying to start niche sites, but it feels like every niche in this world is oversaturrated, no matter how small the market.

Every domain around it is possesed by some ducking moron, who just pays the 2$ yearly fee and parks the domain for ever and ever and ever

Ohh sorry I forgot to ask you for permission to by a domain name, next time i will ask you if you need that domain first, NOT.
Eveyone is trying to make a few $ buddy, it no ones fault that you are a little late.

I dont think you unterstand. I have nothing against people registering domains and then ACTUALLY USING them, thats everyones business, fine with me.

I just hate on people that buy domains for simple reselling (or parking for ever), thats a sick part of capitalism IMHO
 
They park it because they have lots of $$$ and can sell them at a price some day.

You're quite right.Almost every little niche has a registered and park domain.. even if the monthly searches are like just 1.9k per month

Just like any other marketing activity its pure business. Smart ones do buy domains quickly and monetize. Its survival of the fittest.
 
There should be an icann rule something like if after 1 year of having the domain nothing is done with it it goes back onto the market.

But most of the institutions are indeed corrupt from the inside out. cough fifa etc...

What about people who collect toys and do not use them, they keep them in the box and later on in life sell them for well over the value. Do you have issues with these people too?

So if i buy two houses and i dont live in one the goverment should take it away from me and put it on the market again? :D


Buying domains is like investing in realestate since both are a limited resource.. you buy cheap and sell as high as possible simple as that. Its no ones fault that OP is late to the party and hellbend on getting an EMD my suggestion consider brandable domains and not an emds the results are pretty much the same.
 
Everyone having this problem is not creative enough. I still find plenty of domains that have potential. It`s business. You could invest in domains too if there are money to be made.
 
OP, sorry to say mate but that is a pretty lame rant.
If somebody has parked a Domian that you want, then buy it off them, simple.
Business is business.
There ARE things that are wrong with capitalism but I don't feel this is one of them IMO

that's the difference between the successful and the unsuccessful marketer. :cool:

this reminds me of how a business associate once suggested that i take a much smaller commission on a deal that i created and then give the extra money to the client because, "they could use the cash"...

curiously he wasn't willing to take a smaller fee and give me the difference to help make up for my loss.

go figure...

This is right. If someone was smart enough to register the domain if they saw potential in it, they are not to blame.
 
With the way that EMD's were devalued by Google I think it's easier than ever now to find a decent domain for a niche site. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of new TLD's that are popping up every day if you must have an EMD. Just use your head and be creative.

It's capitalism. I don't like it either, but don't hate the Playa - Hate the Game. People with the most money will always have more opportunity to swoop down and dominate markets and grab up investment opportunities fast! It's how the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer.

As far as ICANN or somebody doing something about people buying up domains and dominating the marketplace by simple parking them, I don't think anything would ever really be done because by "parking" the domain an owner IS actually using it. Now maybe if the just purchased it and never bothered setting it up whatsoever that would be a different angle to argue.

But all in all, if you can't find EMD just go with branded domains or long-tailed domains.

ICANN should charge $500 for each single domain... it will drops 99% of domains that is registered by those domainers

btw where you can re-new your domain by $2 yearly? the cheapest place i have found is around $8
