There is a website that has been ranking #1 for a highly competitive keyword for a long time, but it changes its domain every 3-5 days by moving the entire site.

The domains it switches to are expired domains that were dropped some time ago but still have strong backlinks. Instead of simply redirecting these expired domains to the main site, they fully migrate the website to these domains every few days.

I somewhat understand the logic behind this, but I can’t figure out the exact strategy. If anyone has insights on the details, I’d appreciate it.

Usually, any sort of spammy website will rank for a while before getting penalized, a rise in traffic for a while, then a complete tank or/and deindexed,
It's pretty much as Google algos require some time (a few weeks) to proceed, and they're taking advantage of that on top of domains authority
