Domain Purchase for Exact Keywords - Seeking Advice

I have a couple of questions about a niche I am building a new site for and looking forum help. I have an opportunity to purchase a domain name with the exact keyword I am trying to rank for.

Lets say the keyword is "cell phone" and I can purchase the domain name: cellphone.com? Would you purchase this domain name for the right price and assuming the domain name is just parked. How much does google still use exact keyword domains as a ranking?

I know there a lot of other things involved too: content, links, social, etc

Any other recommendations?

If you can get it for reg price, get it.

In my opinion exact match domains are not working now like it used to be. Yes grab one if there's one but do not spend a whole lot money on that domain.

Make sure that your domain hasn't been spammed in the past. Also as @veboo suggested, emd are no more hot. You can also probably consider a good expired domain because it will give you an instant boost in rankings.

if the KW has high MS and the domain is cheap, go for it, but if you have 3-4k MS and it costs $2k, is not worth imo

Unless it is an aged domain with good clean link profile and clea history in archive.org then get it if its fairly cheap. If its expensive and also possible dodgy history then you are better off registering a new domain that you are sure has a clean history and add your own brand to the name. Eg, instead of cellphone.com that would cost a fortune, get cellphoneeinstein.com etc

Depends on the kw. If it is very long I wouldn' t buy it. When price seems reasonable and you plan to stay in limited niche give it a shot, but there will not be any extra bonus from google.
For parked domain I would ask for stats.

EMD no longer work is pure B.S.

I can assure you, that the domain you are trying to purchase has a reaaaally bad history. I can't even remember when was the last time that I saw a clean EMD with a good past. And just for understanding: Former affiliate site = Not clean.

Another thing, I believe that your keyword may also contain a copyrighted word, which can lead to other issues and you should be very well aware of that.

And in the end... EMDs and their effect... there is barely any. They are more trouble than they are worth, because you can easily overoptimize your website without you even knowing it. So if you are new to SEO, don't even bother with any EMDs. Either go for a nice, strong, brandable, clean expired domain or register some nice brandable name, which has never been registered before.
