Better register a (the same) domain name with or without hyphen?

peter-kowaletschkowah.com
or
peterkowaletschkowa.com

Or
biggist-shell-collection.com
or
biggistshellcollection.com

Because of the bad / worse readability, I would actually think that readability without a hyphen would be so impaired that only with hyphen had to be considered.

I would go without a hyphen. For Memorability
 
Never thought about this tbh but I do think it depends on lenght of the name. Except you are going with a 20 letter domain name, a hyphen is not needed.
 
So the legibility is not so important, I assume.

You can use a dash in your website name if you want to, but it's not suggested if you can avoid it. There are multiple problems, and there are no actual benefits unless you have a genuine need for clarification.

You might wish to register a domain name with a hyphen if you want to protect your brand name or other copyrights, or if you just don't want to cause confusion.

How one one protect a brand / copyrights, avoid causing confusion by registering a hyphenated domain?

If you ask me, I would go without a hyphen as a domain can be memorized much easier that way, as you have to consider that many people will actually forget that you have a hyphen in the domain name and it can happen that they type it in a wrong way, which may lead to confusion. So, don't worry about readability, it can be read and understood without hyphens as well, and many sites that have a long names are written this way, so you wouldn't be the first case.
 
Use non hyphenated domain names. There are a few exceptions, for example hyphenated words like:
  • two-fold.
  • check-in.
  • merry-go-round.
  • father-in-law.
  • seventy-two.
  • long-term.
  • up-to-date.
  • mother-in-law
etc
in your domain name. Even then I personally prefer non hyphenated domain names.
 
OK, withot hyphen. Could it make sense to additionally to the not hyphenated domain register the same name with a hyphen (and route it to the not hyphenated domain)?
 
Well, yes, I would have thought so as well, but I had read something different about that shit, that they do give some fucks about a hyphen.
 
None of these is good. Too long, look spammy.

Don't use - or numbers. Use short domains, brandable. Com

Hyphen or no hyphen is just a matter of personal preference. Get what you like. What makes you feel good about your domain name.
 
Up to you but for SEO I don't think there is any difference.
Hyphen is kind of old-school, modern people don't use it any longer :D
 
It's easier for people to not have to remember adding a hyphen, so I'd avoid it if you can. I only use one if the desired domain is unavailable - has minimal effect on SEO.
