I have project that consumes alot of resources internet/computing power, is it best to buy vps, or buy amazon instances?

Please need advice.

VPS and Amazon instances are very similar. Both are virtual machines. The main difference is VPS (virtual machines) servers are run on a single server e.g. dedicated server split into a few VPSs while Amazon instances (virtual machines) are no longer confined to a single host server, but are abstracted from the underlying hardware completely. And they can "self-service" themselves i.e. expand the resources when needed. A typically virtualised VPS doesn't have this ability.

Okay, I'll cut the technical crap here. :)

Here are a few good options:
http://linode.com (Linux)
http://digitalocean.com (Linux)
http://runabove.com (Linux, Windows)

Amazon and Microsoft Azure are good too. But I prefer linode or digital ocean.

THank Your For The Suggestion , Still Looking FOr More Suggestion & Info"s.

digitalocean is good ,I run several scrapy eggs on it .
You can try lowendbox , there are several good vps available for like $20 annual.

Budget? How much bandwidth you need monthly? How much ram, cpu power? Thats basic questions you need to answer yourself. Best is to buy dedi. For $50-75 (price of mid-high power vps) you can get beefy dedi with 24 gigs of ram, dual cpu, and 30 Tb bandwidth and such dedi is more powerful than few vps.

From what I learned so far is that VPSs closely monitor resources (system/bandwidth) which can be a pain and looks like there just looking for a reason to suspend you if you are not 100% whitehat. If you look around you can get dedicated server under 50 which is way better then 15-25 KVM
