I recently asked my grandma if she has heard about Bitcoin and she gave me an affirmative NO as answer, I was both surprised and taken aback at the same time because I thought everyone knows what Bitcoin is. Note; my grandma is 85 and yes, she is educated and have access to the internet and yet she doesn't know what bitcoin is. This struck me hard and made me wonder, if my grandma doesn't know, then what of the people who don't have access to the internet?. It made me think deeply about how far we still have to go as per global awareness and adoption. Lastly it made me very bullish again about Bitcoin's future and also awakened me to my own responsibility as a Bitcoiner to help spread awareness about this digital gold.
With nearly 8 billion people on the planet, around 5.5 billion have internet access, leaving nearly 3 billion completely offline. That means a huge portion of humanity isn’t even in the conversation about digital money yet. So when I ask, “Does your grandma know about Bitcoin?” the question is really about how far global awareness has come, and how much further it still has to go.
What’s holding adoption back are a few clear barriers: lack of connectivity, limited financial education, intimidating user experiences, and lingering distrust in new technology. Yet this gap is exactly what makes the future bullish.
Well whether or not your grandma has heard about Bitcoin, I strongly believe that in time, as accessibility improves and digital money becomes part of everyday life, she might not just know about Bitcoin, she might even hold some. Everyone knows about Gold, everyone should know about the digital Gold too.
