I'm using industrial strength cloaking software (the best stuff) with some budget to go after CPA affiliate financial services offers.

I'm affraid my affiliate competitors will rat me out. I'm afraid the affiliate network will figure it out. I'm afraid the brands will figure it out. Therefore:

1. Is it better to go after smaller niches easier to rank on?

2. Is it better to go after hyper competitive adult?

3. Is it better to set up a simple money page / blog with adsense and drive mainstream, off-topic keyphrase traffic ("apples") to a high paying adsense topic ("oranges")?

4. Is it best to keep doing what I'm doing

Knowing not much can be revealed strategy-wise, what direction would you set?

Thanks!

If you think your gonna get "ratted out", "figured out" etc. then you wont be able to do any of the above.. You need to cover your tracks.

Blank/fake your referers etc. and you'll be good to go.

Diversify and try all the things you mentioned, spread them apples, see what works, replicate on mass..

If I were afraid of the things you list, I'd start out small and test to see what was going to happen. Either try it on a few small campaigns or throttle the traffic to your really good offer so, if you do get caught, you don't lose your ass.

@dandan - these aren't affiliate links that i'm cloaking that i can fake a referrer on.. i'm talking about the situation when my cloaked site presents in the search engine results and humans click through and end up at my money page.

no way to cover these tracks right?
