Hi,

I need some help here. Let say I download an image from IG, with JPEG extention open it in Photoshop then save it as Jpeg or PNG with different resolution.

Will that change the hashtags of the image?

Let me answer you with an example: -

If you are using word "Foolish" instead of "Stupid" that will not change meaning or intent of using those words

You mean hash values, for example MD5 or SHA hashes. And yes im pretty sure they will change just by saving a different resolution :)

You Sir, deserve to win the title for the dumbest question asked on bhw..ever.
You sir, deserve to win the title for the most useless answer given on bhw.. ever.

Like honestly, it takes just as much time to answer his question as it takes to write this.

My keyboard, my words. Oh and yeah.. are you trying to inflate the post count by double posting?

Yes I meant "Hash Values" Not "Hash Tags"...Sorry for the confusion

You have mentioned it in Social Networking> Instagram> Hashtags as tags of this thread and you're saying it is a mistake :suspicious:

Just use something like Faststone Photo Resizer and you can make lots of changes that makes a pic unique including the MD5

yes it will. The MD5 / CRC hash of an image checks if the image is IDENTICAL on a bit level. If you open a jpeg image, save it at 100% quality save it at 99% quality, save it at 98% quality, you know have 3 unique images (according to the MD5 hash).

HOWEVER, whether this is enough to pass ISG unique tests, no one knows, maybe they are running some machine learning over the image that can "see" if the image is the same, even though the md5 is unique

Generating a different images will technically change the MD5 hash... but IG still has plenty of ways to detect similar pictures. Luckily - repsosting is part of the culture of IG - but if they have similar/connect IPs or clients... they might catch on.

Be careful brother.

Hi, if i don’t change md5 for profile photo , is this increase ban rate? Or I can use same photo many Time as profile photo and this will change nothing ?

Probably not a good idea. It is a footprint and is easily detectable. Just incorporate resaving of the image to your flow to be safe.

Guys, OP is trying to say "image hash". I guess he wrongly wrote or believes that a hashtag is the same as an image hash (MD5, sha-1).

The answer to your question is NO. Changing the file/document extension will not change the hash.
Changing the name, and/or the image colors, size, etc., will change the hash.

Hope this helps, and don't get upset at some of the ones making fun. It's a Wednesday and it happens. 99.9% of the people here on BHW are fine and helpful folks.

If i add a small emoji on snapchat for exemple and save it , the md5 and all of the picture will be new right ?
