I have this domain that I already rank up to first page of google #8 on the list. But my domain name is just made up words like a game name.

Does it matters? Or will it affect anything?

Yes, domain name still matter but not like it use to be before. If you are having a copyrighted word in your domain name(like Pepsi, facbook etc) you are taking a risk of loosing domain.
So like golfjob.com tells google it's a site about golf jobs.
2nd if some is searching for something related to golf jobs and see your site on first page even in 10th rank he/she will click on it more likely due to the relevancy.

The name of a domain has an impact on SEO but there's more to it than that. Having a strong & memorable domain name can help you to be remembered by your end-users easily.

Your customers are likely to go to your website directly rather than searching for your company on Google when you have a short and catchy name that is related to your industry. Also, this gives you an extra advantage in terms of SEO & ranking.

A premium domain name contributes greatly to the establishment of a reputable brand & there's more...

The name is the beginning of the success itself. I believe so much in this.

I already have keywords that already ranked up on google 1st page, should I still change my domain name? or just retain it and create more articles

I think you should just keep creating good content.

Of course, content and consistent publishing are much more important.

It does for sure! Domain name needs to look genuine and worth catching eye of your targeted customers. Without the first appeal attraction, people won’t come around!

Brand the domain name.
You will be fine.

definitely keep and continue to make it stronger and be careful on creating more posts: posts should not be competing for the same keyword. if you do this, google will have a hard time ranking you at the top for that keyword.

it is ok to have posts like this:
  • how to grow red apple
  • buying best red apples
  • how to make red apple pie
  • benefits of red apple

but dont have 2 posts about making red apple pie

I think it have many aspects how you see and Give importance over it ! If you are for money and ranking then it should matter only to scrap money not rep+ , Its up to you What's matter !

I think your domain name is your business card.
The more it is cared for, the more it gives a sense of professionalism.

Yes, it matters a lot as it creates value for your business and is easily recognizable

If I change my domain, what will happen to my backlinks? I already made on the first page of google result.
Can I just easily purchase a new domain, transfer all articles to the new domain?

You will need to 301 redirect old domain to new to transfer link juice and confirm website move in GSC.

Based on what I've seen for the past 2 days, LOLNO.

301 redirect,
you will more than likely, lose your rankings, for an indefinite period of time.
That's just how rebranding works.
Sometimes, you won't recover it, othertimes, you will recover it within a day or two

I think it's important that users like your domain name (or maybe find it relevant, but that's the same thing really) because it will affect CTR, etc.

But that doesn't mean the domain name has to fit any specific criteria.
