Does the domain name matters?

I've been involved in domaining for a good while, here's my opinion.

Back in the day - EMD was king. Register a domain, bang some content on it, aim a few backlinks and BOOM you were earning money. They were easy to sell for profit to developers.

Google updates fucked it up.

Partial match domains became good. Basically, some of your keywords in a domain helped to rank.

Personally, these days I prefer brandable domains. They look better and it's easier for you to rank for your brand name!

Don't get me wrong, EMD / PMD can still work, they just require a more careful approach.

Having said all of that, if I had the chance to own a decent category killer domain, id snap the opportunity up!

Domain name is good for branding only now. That is why so many people spend a lot of money on it.

As others put it, it's mainly for branding and trust. A decent domain name will get you links more easily too.

Some people spend millions on domains. There are different reasons for this though.

I have this domain that I already rank up to first page of google #8 on the list. But my domain name is just made up words like a game name.

Does it matters? Or will it affect anything?
You probably already got the info you need, but I would personally brand the domain name. You want the name to represent something, When people think of your brand or products or whatever, you want them to think of this domain.

The domain name also matters.
But your content is the main one. It has to attract your visitor to come again.
Your content has to stand unique. Even your domain name is not attractive if the content quality is good. Then visitor will come to your website automatically.

Yes Domain name matters, always try to select easy name that can people easily memorize.
