Does the algorithm punish you for deleting a video and re-uploading it?

I posted a video which wasn't picked up by the algorithm, only 2 views but I believe it's high quality.

I believe my thumbnail was bad so I'd like to reupload it with a new thumbnail (my CTR is 5% which is really bad).

Has anyone tried this with and had any success with it?

Removing videos not only removes any SEO-authority attached to the video but any accessible views to that video will be lost and appear as negative metrics on your monthly analytic reports.

So I won't get anymore views on my re-uploaded video? I just did it so I can come back to this thread with the results.

I did remove videos and reupload them and got views but they were recent and on the same channel. I’m not sure if reuploading older videos will still give you that many views.
I also saw a popular youtuber delete a video 1 day after upload then reupload it and still got a lot of views, maybe more

Yeah that's exactly what I did, it was a recent video that I deleted.

I looked back on another channel where I did deleted and reuploaded a video and 8 months later the video has 80 views.

Similarly, I had too few keywords so I was able to maximize that too.

Don't remove it, just make another video based on your first one and/or cut it on shorts. So, you can get more videos with less efforts.

What was the response for you after reupload ? It will not make much difference as per my experience in past.

Welp it's too late now.

It hasn't been long yet but I have 3 impressions and no views yet. This video previously had 3 views and I was 2 of them (trying to give it an initial boost).

At this point I have to keep uploading and feed Youtube some metadata about my channel.

I'll update tomorrow but I'm not expecting a viral video overnight.

it's possible that the platform's algorithm could view it as a form of spamming or manipulation and could potentially negatively impact your visibility and reach.

Whilst I agree that it could have more negative than positive consequences, I still think that it's worth trying in order to get information about the algorithm.

It seems that the reuploaded video has already outperformed the old one.

Previous stats after 3 days:
  • 17 impressions
Current stats after 24hours:
  • 13 impressions
So I've already seen an improvement, now I have to post more and see where it goes from here onwards.

It shouldn't make a diference in the way if will affect the video discoverability, if the videos has just a few views 10 let's say is ok delete it, but if you already have more than 100 it will defenetely affect your account, delete it too many times and reupload it will defenetely affect your video but is good to see that the video is doing better now.

your video on youtube, yes there you will get traffic, but you not have any SEO authority, it's YT, YT ranks your videos in google serps not you- your website domain.

So always looking for new opportunities, why not selfhost your videos on cloud storage, embedd in your cms, then syndicate that video with content and canonical link, so that other platforms can not outrank you?

Is it possible to syndicate your wordpress video to medium as example? With this syndicate method, your own selfhost video with canonical link you should gain good google serp ranking with your own domain not the YT authority.

Whats blocking you to try it? What you have to loose? Or doing it in 2way, create some videos on youtube and some other videos selfhost and syndicate them, so you "kill" two birds with one hand. (metaphor). Or you can do it the multiple domains way, seo concentrating content, one domain has only podcasts, the other has videos..another domain has only pillar content....all are linking to your main page where you promote affiliate products or your own services.

If you do this one time, there will be no penalty. But deleting multiple videos is a sign to youtube that you are doing something fishy.

Do you have proof of that statement that YT will penalize you when you deleting multiple videos? Is that written in their policies?

Well its about moderation ,if you delete 1 or 2 videos i dont think it has big efect but if you delete a lot of videos then for sure it will affect seo

not moderation more precise= dictatorship?
A platform who will penalize me when I delete my content?
