Does SEO still work?

Been doing SEO and internet marketing since 2010 but out of touch with the SEO part for past 2-3 years. I used to rank sites top 3 for keywords like "personal loans" , "make money online" etc back in 2011-2014 but things changed after that and i stopped doing SEO for my personal sites after 2016..

How are the things now? i see only big brands rank now a days in google top 10...

Can we still rank a site top 10 for decent money making keywords in lets say 3-4 months?

Yes SEO still work it may take up to 3-6 months to rank. Yes competition is more now. But still you can rank if good SEO is done.

Its not about the competition, i can always beat the competition but the reason i stopped SEO was the changes in google algorithm which only prefers big brands and have like 6 month filter before your site even shows up in top 30.

3-4 months is possible if you have an aged site, free from penalities, great onpage, loads quickly etc for sure, depending on your niche.

It's always the case you need aged domains to see the real effect however you can build links during these time and be patient.

Yes it is much harder than it was years ago. Takes time and much more efforts.
Yes Google favors big brands, more and more it seems.

I don’t see why you couldn’t achieve that, especially since your website is old and used to rank well. Yes, there is much more competition now and the algorithms have changed since you stopped working on SEO, but I think you can catch up with that in several months.
 
Yes it does but I do understand what you mean.

For a while I have been convinved that Google does priorisitse the bigger brands, even when they are not fully relevant. I will look for an example over the coming days and show what I mean.
 
Yes, it still works but many new algorithms have been developed, so you gotta go through a lot of stuff to get back on the track. Best of luck!

Yes definitely SEO will work but it takes time to reach the position.
 
Ofc SEO still works!

And yeah, for the top KW's big companies rank cuz they have big budgets but nevertheless you can rank for other KW's and there are plenty.

Global internet isn't around for that long if you look at it, people who were active in the beginning days of SEO were lucky cuz now they actually have to work for it but nevertheless there are plenty of opportunities and although it looks like that there are many people that know SEO that's because we are on BHW but in reality not that many people know how to do proper SEO.

I at spot 17 on one site and spot 10 for another site I created about 30 Days ago. No Links, No Yoast, No Fancy Keyword Density, No Youtube Yet, No Shady Tactics.
I do spend about 30 hours a week on the site taking action, messing up and learning.
Yes, it works.
The course I got scammed by taught me one of the most important things about SEO which is Site Structure.

SEO will always work. It's a constant effort and you have to befriend Google. Because aside from good SEO, G controls everything after all.
 
No, doesn’t work at all. I used my keywords every second word of each sentence, ordered 5M back links from fiverr and even submitted my URL to Google five times per day. Oh wait.. did I do it correctly?
 
Yes, I think SEO still works but when carried out and maintained properly. So, you have to be the best at what you do for it to work.
