Does semrush takeover Ahrefs?

I have just read this case study by matthew. Is it 100% true?

I'm sure @MatthewWoodward will answer you on here. I'm sure Tim Soulo might also have something to say on this.

Semrush in my opinion, fell by the wayside in recent years and Ahrefs powered ahead. Last 12-18 months though, Semrush seem to have picked up their game.

I am pretty sure that @MatthewWoodward used the Ahrefs live index, not the historical one, which makes the comparison kinda shitty. Everyone who deal professionally with domains know very well how BAD the Semrush is. Like really, really, really bad. You can test it yourself. Get a random 100 websites/domains, go check them. Here:
Ahrefs data:

Semrush data, same domains:

Ahrefs have at least 50% more RDs (which usually translate to IPs) than Semrush. No clue why you would comparise the Live index of Ahrefs against ALL of the ever found links of the other tools.

ahrefs and semrush are two lethal combo of pure intel. By far the best tools in the industry.
