Does keyword density still matter in content? Would it be harmful for SEO to have the same keyword at the rate of 7% in a content I will write?

I've seen content with 13% keyword density ranking about 2 years ago (in a tough niche even, I think it was "marketing" if memory serves me well), so it still matters. But I don't think it matters anymore in the sense of it being a major ranking factor, it's just one of those small SEO things that you need to do to cross it off your list, it's not like you'll increase the KD from 4% to 5% and you'll outrank everyone...

It matters. I've lost a domain for working around 10-15% exact match keyword in posts. Attaching images or files returns an error, but lost all traffic in 4 months and never got it back. This happened on mid 2019 and every post was ranking 1-2.

Keyword density isn't as critical today as it used to be. Google prefers good quality and relevant content over keyword-stuffed text. Using a keyword at a 7% rate might look unnatural and could be seen as keyword stuffing, which Google dislikes. So, aim for a natural use of keywords which makes sense to your readers, and brings value to them. Avoid focusing too much on hitting a certain keyword density.

7% is very very high. I use 0.5 to 1% and it works out just fine for me. I also focus on LSI keywords as well. Going beyond 1% is dangerous in my opinion.

Imho, keyword density is a thing of the past. You can find pages ranking for a specific keyword (like a few words, example "find a good plumber in Houston", and of course you do not need to have the exact match "find a good plumber in Houston" in your text.

Google understands semantics, we are not in 1995.

Tell me sure if you solve this mystery..

There's no specific number that will be regarded as too high when it comes to keyword density. As long as you don't stuff keywords in your content, you're fine. But if your keyword density is over 2% do review your content again to make sure it reads naturally.

What is keyword density -

Keyword density is a metric that tells us how frequently a keyword is used within a piece of content in relation to the
overall word count.

Is keyword density important for SEO -

Keyword density isn’t important for SEO, as it’s no longer thought to be a ranking factor. This is because modern
search engine algorithms are smart enough to understand what a page is about and how well it matches search intent in other ways.

Best practices for keyword density -

(A) - Never aim for specific keyword density
(B) - Focus on topic coverage instead
(C) - Include keywords in key places - (Title Tags, H1, URL and Meta description)

It still matters yes but it is no longer as important as it once was. Plus it is just one of many factors. So just be cautious and fix your keyword density rate because it is very high, it should be around 1-2%

Keyword density matter for google rank also it's very important for google AdSense.

at 2023 August it will be 100% sure that Keywords density is matter a lot. I loss many of traffic last 10 months. Also, it's a ranking factor. I was on 1/2 postion on 2018 when I am get hit from google update, Still I never pull back my ranking position yet.

Keyword density is no longer the critical factor in SEO that it once was. Even though it is still an important metric, webmasters should focus on making helpful, high-quality content that provides value to users and answers their queries.

Its probably not as important anymore, as Google will be easily be able to detect synonyms and the general niche of an article. I made the experience that you shouldnt tell writers about keyword density anyways, cause the result will usually be a pretty bad article that reads very unnatural. They will focus more on made up criteria than writing a good article, which likely also will be even worse for SEO than if they would just have focussed on the user

Keyword in post title, meta description and in first paragraph is all I do, works well.

Depending on website and niche, it may get re mentioned but this is due to the content, not because I am adding it on purpose.

I agree with people here saying it's not as important as it once was for volume, it's about placement and then good quality content.

Keyword density is old news now. It's all about entity and semantics now.

7% really? That's a lot... you are just gonna stuff the keyword randomly? It is not 2004 any more. Forget about SEO and just do your thing. Obviously you won't get far if you are asking about keyword density.

Not anymore.

Seriously!

In fact, keyword density has shifted ever since RankBrain because the RankBrain update actually determines the context of your content.

So even if you are targeting a specific keyword through keyword stuffing, which of course is tightly related to keyword density, it won't have much of an effect.

So focus more on the overall experience the people get when they are on your site.

Focus on search intent, and then link your pages with intent in mind.
