Yes, indexing citations does matter for several reasons like visibility and discoverability , academic impact , credibility, recognition, etc

they are the usual cititions (merchant cirlce, ezlocal). They are new pages on those domains. So google has to crawl the sites again, ya

Depends on the website but for a lot of websites it’s needed. Not all citations for those websites will be indexed automatically.

a link is totally useless if the page is not cralwed/indexed,
you don't want to rush into indexing them,
indexing services usually use different kind of spam to force index stuff,
you don't want that for geniune links,
give them at least 6-8 weeks, then use some indexing services for the ones that didn't get indexed
