Does google take longer to rank sites?

I have the same experience here as well, Google takes longer to rank. You can speed up the process a bit by posting a few unique or VERY well-spun articles with a link or two related to your niche on platforms like blogger, wordpress.com tumblr etc etc, and building a few hundred backlinks to those articles with at least a half dozen keyword variations.

Take it slow, there is no haste, because if you rush, Google knows and gets suspect, even when you do it slow and after a while you natice barely any changes, still take it slow because Google will still get suspect.

Google is oftentimes like a paranoid pot head

I've built some web 2.0s, rankings improved for a main keyword of 40500 US searches from 150 to mid 20's, last 11 days have fluctuated between 29 and 24, guess the site is sandboxed!

It really depends on the competition, I just made a website today, after I submitted it to webmaster tool to crawl the url, I was ranking 1st for 2 keywords, and position 4 for another 2. It also got me 400 UV today, and this was a brand new domain.

What you selling? Stop the bullshit please....

For me, it takes minimum 2 months to rank on the page 1.

This is a relative question.

With newer sites I find that no, you can't rank #1 in 6 weeks for extremely competitive terms like you could back in 2012, 2013, 2014.

With older / aged sites, preferably 6-9 months 1-2 years is really ideal.... these sites still won't rank "fast" if you're throwing young links (from young PBN sites) at them. You'll get movement. And you'll eventually rank. But it seems like the target sites don't rank until the PBN sites themself gain some age.

Where the slow down seems minimal (in competitive niches) is once you start throwing links from aged PBN sites at aged target sites. Then Google cooperates much better. In that instance my goal is to merely get the sites to page 2. Once I hit the top of page 2 I no longer "squeeze" sites to page 1 like I use to. I typically just wait a month (or 2) for the sites to settle. Then I add my first finishing touch. Where I just drop a few power links over the course of 1-2 weeks with some other weaker links. If you do it proper then you'll see that old 2013'd style ranking. Where you just wait now for Google to kick in. Then the site crosses page 1, to pos 9 to pos 6...5.... 3.... 2.... 1 all within 2 weeks without any additional links.

I think my sites are finishing like that (ranking faster on page 1 than any other page) since I'm aging some sites more than others. So links from aged sites do their thing and stabilize. Then I add my finishing round. But the younger sites from previous campaigns are aging around the same period I do my last batch of links. Which leads to a full on throttle that rockets sites quickly to #1.

That may sound nice but it's dangerous because you look like an idiot ranking that way. In certain industries its sketchy as hell. You have the "establishment" sites at the top. Not whitehat sites. But all these old authority sites that have been in relatively the same positions for years. Some franchises and national corps. Then your site comes out of nowhere trampling everything in it's path. Competitors will take note and begin stalking. Your shit better be in order if you rank that way.

The way I like to do it, although it's so hard cause you need to be super patient.... is to let your links fully "exhaust" at the bottom of page 1. Then you double, triple, quadruple check all your PBN security. I don't mean blocking link crawlers (I think that's useless). I mean go around sniffing out any little thing that smells of PBN. Redo whatever you need. Make your sites look commercial. Replace any low quality content with great writing and content. None should look like booster sites. If your WP usage is high, consider reverting to joomla or html. Consider replacing links. If I see too many home page links I'll move some to inner pages. If I see a site missing a logo, form, about, contact, anything I go and do all that first. Then once I know my PBN is rock solid secure from soup to nuts.... then I'll SLOWLY bring the site to #1. And I'll take my dear time since I know #1 already belongs to me long term. And just by ranking slow, when competitors eventually check my links they're more likely to think "shit, he's doing link exchanges or guest posts" vs "that's an obvious PBN let me report".

Because of that... I kinda like slower ranks now. It's forced me to stop taking dumb risks, it's made my SEO much more tight & consistent. When I rank now I'm not thinking "I need to rank by Jun 2016" I'm thinking "I'm gonna rank whenever I rank and I'm gonna do my links like it's 2020."

That's a nice story and all, but I need money.

It takes more time to get ranking in google than bing and yahoo

RedMango, you seem to be the exceptional guy here. So why not share your secrets of ranking brand new domains in Google in short time

Not for me, still getting good results from brand new domains, branded, EMDs, PMDs.

Depends what you do and how you structure your OM.

What you selling? Stop the bullshit please....

If you never experienced something like this, that doesn't mean it's bullshit. Try making a website around a brand name that it's not used, and after your website has been indexed, google it and you will see you are on the first results. Now the same thing can apply for example to an upcoming event/game/news, etc. So for example if I know that in 2 weeks from now, people will search for a phrase, I take the emd for that phrase if avaiable and I do good on-page optimization and you will see you'll rank quite high. Now it really depends on how many people will target that phrase, meaning it depends on the competition.

You might need to build some quality backlinks before you start ranking on Google.

I have noticed that sometimes I can rank a keyword on Top 10 of bing/yahoo within 2 weeks without any backlink, but somehow after 1 month or so its slips away on 3rd-4th page. I dont know why this happens but it happened to me a couple of times.

Regarding google the best i can get without backlinks is page 2 with a 6 months old domain withing 3 weeks, but those are super low competition keywords.

Usual stuff. Nothing special. Although I'm very fluid and change with the times, the bones of the way I do stuff has remained fairly similar for the past 5 years.

On-page SEO - I had a Fiverr gig selling my way of writing content which I used to sell on here. Both are unavailable now, but it's so straight forward really. I CBA to go into it but most tips on BHW are 95% of the way there.

Content - as an ex-writer, I know that content works. If you can't write yourself, then hire someone and while it might take you months/years to find someone, stick with them. Invest in them. Invest in yourself if not. Learn to write. Learn to tick boxes for customers that come from your well-rounded keyword research. Both go hand-in-hand.

Simple, simple, simple sites. Fast ones. Like <1 second load time. Mobile site has to be fucking awesome or you're chasing your tail.

Lots of other stuff but to touch on off-page quickly:

Big links. Expensive ones. PBNs. SER everything unique, no default. Find/Learn how to amend engines or create your own. Scrape your own lists, keep moving and don't sell them or use other people's. Don't do what everyone else does, myself included. Test what works. Testing takes up 75% of my time. Test, test, test until it works for you. Keep doing it. Any static activity, then that's the warning that you're not testing and moving. It could be your lists, volume of links, velocity of links, types of links.

I can generally get in the top 100 (mostly 50) just from site structure and content. Once you're at page 2 (10-20) I think Google needs to see some trust (big links). If you get to #11 or #10 then you are almost there. It needs something else. More content, more internal linking, copy competitor links and do more than whatever they are doing. If you can't crack the top 50 then something is wrong with your site. It's too slow, the content is shit, there are issues that might be flagged in GWMT.

There are so many variables. This is why I charge a lot to clients. This is why it takes me a long time to build a site as I can't design them myself I have to try and find a web designer that will actually listen as I don't want what 99.9% of customers want.

HTH a bit

Thanks for this, very informative.

my website ranks on pages 1 and 2 for its main keywords. lately I have been building authority website on expired domains and linking them to my main business website.

however I have made around 8 sites now and my serps have not increased much at all. the domains a good quality and clean and my money site is around 6 years old.

am I experiencing the delay you are talking of and I need to wait for my authority sites to age before I see a nice boost in serps?

Just keep building links at a steady pace. You'll get there eventually. Patience and testing is the key to good SEO.

Pay more to get started with an aged domain. Since you need money focus on long tails and easy keywords to get some traffic to your website while you're waiting on the site to mature.

Are you still following this method? It has been about 6 months since this post, hence asking.

How has your experience been is terms of stickiness of the ranks achieved with your method - do the pages that you had ranked say a year back or say 8-9 month back with this method, still maintain their ranks (assuming no link loss)?

If not, till how long (how many months) did the gained ranks hold fortress approx, in your experience?

And please give some idea about the competition metrics/numbers of a couple of the toughest (most difficult) pages that you could rank with this method? I am only asking for "normal high-level" statistic details -both for your and the competitor's site that would help a lot of us, I am sure.

Thanks a lot, in anticipation of your response!
