Does Google really hate blogs?

So, I was discussing with a fellow member and he pointed out a very interesting thing. For that, I shared one of my client's URL with him. He said that Google doesn't like websites that are simply blogs and one needs products and offerings in order to rank. I checked his theory and it holds water for most of the cases. Most of my clients' websites are losing traffic while websites in their niches which offer services or products are seeing a rise in their traffic.

So, can we say that the future for bloggers is going down the hybrid pathway? Which is clubbing blogging with products and services as an offering to the traffic they get? Would love to know the perspective of senior members here.
