So, I was discussing with a fellow member and he pointed out a very interesting thing. For that, I shared one of my client's URL with him. He said that Google doesn't like websites that are simply blogs and one needs products and offerings in order to rank. I checked his theory and it holds water for most of the cases. Most of my clients' websites are losing traffic while websites in their niches which offer services or products are seeing a rise in their traffic.

So, can we say that the future for bloggers is going down the hybrid pathway? Which is clubbing blogging with products and services as an offering to the traffic they get? Would love to know the perspective of senior members here.

in my openion, as GPT made it much easier to generate text, thats what google hates :P

Choosing blogs for backlinks is an art in SEO Google just consider what is user's behavior on particular blog interest , some of Blog networks made only for backlinks purposes which may decline your website rank, try to post in real sites like Forums, discussion sites, Real blog sites with good organic reach, Podcasts or any other sites with real organic reach follow these type sites.

For WhiteHat SEO avoid following! ( Google really hate )
  • Blogs on same network (PBN) - Use only if you are expert in these and know what you are doing and what you need as results.
  • Blogs that sync same content
  • Blogs with sidebar links
  • Blogs made for only backlinks purposes
  • Blogs with no organic reach
  • Blogs with Content
  • Outdated Blogs with no updates

Thing's to Consider For WhiteHat SEO ( Google really LOVE )
Use High Organic Traffic Blogs
Use Good Readability Content - Avoid AI (AI may give you short term results but not recommended for long time SEO)
Choose Root domains
Choose google news approved blogs (Always has auto high index and cache rate)

Google don't hate blogging but when GPT came to the field I think google very hard in blogging website.

You are correct. Blog on its own won't work anymore. Blog on a genuine business website will help.

Blogging and especially affiliate websites are dead.

Google doesn't hate blogs, but it does have specific guidelines and quality standards that it expects all websites, including blogs, to follow. Here are some reasons why a blog might not perform well on Google:

  1. Low-Quality Content: Google prioritizes high-quality, original content. Blogs with thin, duplicate, or poorly written content may be penalized.
  2. Spammy Tactics: Using black hat SEO techniques like keyword stuffing, cloaking, or using automated content can lead to penalties from Google.
  3. Poor User Experience: Slow loading times, intrusive ads, or a non-mobile-friendly design can negatively impact a blog's ranking.
  4. Lack of Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T): Google favors content from sources that demonstrate expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. Blogs that lack these qualities may not rank well.
  5. Low-Quality Backlinks: Blogs that engage in link schemes or have a lot of low-quality or irrelevant backlinks can be penalized.
  6. Not Following Google's Guidelines: Blogs that do not adhere to Google's Webmaster Guidelines may face penalties or lower rankings.
Improving content quality, following SEO best practices, ensuring a good user experience, and building high-quality backlinks can help a blog perform better on Google.

Thank you ChatGPT.

I have seen Google rank pages with products easily, compared to content pages where search terms are related to shopping. This isn't anything new, it is happening for years.

If you have content pages that you want to rank, it is best to target terms where people are looking for information, rather than the intent is to shop.

It could be a coincidence, but if you consider it from Google's perspective, they do seem to prefer content from trusted brands, and businesses selling products could be considered as such. Alternatively, it might be because they have many links pointing to their product pages, and people share these with their friends because they want to buy the products. In Google's view, this demonstrates positive user interest.

In my opinion, Google dislikes GPT because it has made generating text much easier.

Google seems to prefer ranking large authority sites only these days.

If you have a blog site that is interesting and engaging but you cannot rank on Google, you can always try to promote it subtly on Reddit.

But do not spam and make it too obvious that you are promoting your blog.

I think your friend has a point. Google seems to favor sites that offer more than just blogs.

Combining blogs with products or services could be the way forward. It gives more value to visitors and can help with ranking.

I've seen traffic go up on sites that offer both. Maybe blogging alone isn't enough anymore.

Trying a hybrid approach might be worth it. Could be the future for keeping traffic strong.

Google doesn't dislike blogging but, I believe it became much tougher on blogging websites when GPT entered the scene.

Google like blogs. Most people in their life first begin their own posts online with blogs only as they are free. More over you get much help in ranking due to to domain ranking. (wont help if your content is not real, google knows all)

Google prioritizes websites that directly meet a user's search intent. If someone wants to buy a running shoe, a blog post with reviews may not be as relevant as an e-commerce site.
