Does Fake Google-Based Keyword Traffic Improves SERP?

I've read over different blogs and forums that SERP has something to do with CTR. However, I'm not sure about fake traffic. I've also heard that some SEOs use fake traffic to improve rankings.
Can the services offering google-based traffic against a particular keyword improve rankings? I know it will increase bounce rate, but increasing page views and time spent can minimize bounce rate. So what are your thoughts and experiences?

I've tested this myself, and the results were minimal - but enough to know that it certainly is a signal.

The catch-22 is finding clean proxies for running this kind of thing. Google knows whats going on when a shit-load of chinese proxy traffic starts digging through Serps and hanging out on your site.

Unless you have access to a ton of clean proxies, I've settled for creating relatively engaging pages and letting the organic traffic establish my click-through for me.

A sexy title and page description can be just as good, basically.

Fake traffic has its value. 2-3 years ago it was a secret key to gaining rank. Then it stopped abruptly. Recently I revisited it and saw SOME effect if done well, but not enough to make it worth my time. I did find a few interesting uses for it... but I'm still testing those and intend to bank off the methods myself before making any public reports.
