It's in human logic, if you steal, it's no good, when you steal content you steal someones property.

if you are using an api it's not really stealing since it's supposed to provind the data for reuse , but it's still concidered copied content by a search engine ..

Copied content might/might not rank. Question is whether you are willing to take the risk. So, the answer is go with unique content. There was a time when article sites used to dominate the SERPs with all those dup articles, but where are they GONE!
 
I duplicate content for all of my sites, but I also manually spin them. You take a risk as soon as you build that first link to your site. So why don't you just test and take chances instead of worrying about what may happen, just some advice.
 
If you are serious about IM, you really need to invest in good quality content if you cannot write them yourself. Shortcuts would prove to be a life long struggle.
 
Well everybody is saying 'no' which may be right. But... I have been told by churn/burn full on blackhatters fairly recently that they use duplicate content on parts on their projects to great success. I'm guessing WHAT duplicate content they choose and how they use it has a LOT to do with this, however. For money sites, and long term projects the answer is obviously no... but I would think that SOME may still have a very black use for it. Maybe somebody who uses it can chime in.
 
In my honest opinion, there is no way that google can penalize you for using duplicate content. I mean, Google is a huge and great program but it is can't compare 1 site to billions of other sites, that would be impossible to do for each new article written each second.

Here's a case study that shows that google doesn't care about duplicate content, in fact the 30% of the web is duplicate content (I can't post links yet):

- Search "ahrefs duplicate content myth"

My advice: don't believe those that talk without proves.

Dup content STILL works just fine if you know how to handle it, ever heard of content curation? I have a lot of ticket site were i use content from review and music sites, i ad a bit of my own and wallah i am ranking top 3 for artist tickets + city... (because backlinks are the Master of the SEO universe)

@OP Look up content curation and twist it into a blackhat thing and bank on it, it can be done but i am not going to spoon feed you, i already pointed you in the direction you should be looking. And always remember that not content but BACKLINKS are king!!! Content is nothing more but a servant and only important to convert your traffic into leads opr sales, but for SEO, content is not important at all.

duplicate content works well, but you need to be wise how to handle it very very carefully,
some says duplicate content will not penalized you, laugh on them and say learn the hardway.

if your talking about 100% duplicating or just scrapping the website content, it will still works!
but google dont know who you are, but he will find you , and he will penalized you!

but having a crappy duplicate content are like a ticking bomb!,

There is no way for google to decide who is a real owner of content.
The date of post is not enough for that.

I tried it on 20+ sites in the last 7 years, and duplicated content can result:

1. Adsense Ban

2. Google Deindexing

3. DMCA removal (I experienced this with my website that ranked well and made me at least 100$ every day, one huge company used DMCA and removed my site, no one asked me anything, they removed me in 3 minutes)

4. Non satisfied visitors


Duplicated content in my case ranked just with automated video sites, so I copied Youtube descriptions and other video sites descriptions along with videos, and it was cool.

On niche sites, nah, content is too cheap now (3-10$ for nice article in some niche) and you should buy at least 2-3 articles per week, if you want to invest in your site of course

I didn't have problem with google deindexing. Not saying its your case but most people get removed because junk autoblogs

In the opposite i tried too videos with short description and result was zero, nada, nothing kapout

Just used wp-o-matic to source content from different blogs through feeds on a crappy site of mine (test things). As it was not very good as it keeps the original content, I tried to fix some passages too personal or with some links... and stopped to to it as it was a pain in the ass. Just to see I got no penalty and not too bad metrics.
On the contrary I tried (before auto content generation) blast back links and yeah, it does not work :cool: What a genius hahaha

AFAIK and have seen, dup content doesn't rank at least in the top 20+ results.

For example, take any keyword/phrase and check in google search. You will not find exact description mentioned in those top ranked pages, nor you will find the content to be a copy of any of those other pages.

For example, I took this keyword/phrase and checked Google:
" right dog food"
"best pup food"
... and checked the top 10 results, and found no duplicates in those top 10 results. I could've gone checked many more, but I'm sure no two results from the top 20, even top 50, will be duplicate. It take it as: no duplicate content will find a place in the top SERPs, at least in Google.

If I take a complete sentence from any of those top results, then there will be 100s of duplicates shown by Google, but for the keyphrase that counts in SEO, you will never find two dups in the top results that are considered important in SEO/Internet marketing imo.

If at all anyone find anything on the contrary, then I'd be the most interested person, as a student of SEO, to know the details about it.
 
maybe you can rank it. but if owner make a report to google and others, you got a problem. you site will get penalized.
conclusion= not work
