You can test test test if the directory submission can help to increase the SERP or not...

After do the submission to hundreds or even thousands of directories, and wait 2 - 4 weeks to see result. If it doesn't work in improving SERP, stop it.

Yes, Directory Submission still works. But for this, you have to submit your website details on high page rank directory submit sites. These sites should have good traffic and all related niche for your business. Then you can gain benefits from these sites.

Yeah, it still works good as long as you do it manually with decent high PR domains. Make sure with the content quality when you do submission.
