does directory submit still works?

I wouldn't buy a package or service with directory submission. It's way too risky because you don't know the URLs in advance. I tried that about 2 years ago and it worked for a few weeks and then my website lost 80% of it's traffic overnight.
If you do directory submissions make sure to follow those rules:
1) Do it manually
2) In high PR and popular sites
3) Topic must be related to your niche (otherwise it needs to be very popular and general such as DMOZ, etc.)

still do 1000 submissions and it works fine. as long as you dont submit to shit ( flagged or deindexed) directories and not overuse money anchors it works still good.

are you looking for local citations or regular submissions to free web directories ? (does not works anymore).
As long as you are submitting them manually, and paying for them, then yes, they will work.
The problem with free web directories is noobs(we all started somewhere) and poorly written money sites have spammed them, causing their traffic to decrease and the PR of the directory to be punished.
You should stay away from any website or "Package Deal" that offers to submit your site to a bunch of directories, unless they give you the FULL list of them, and the page rank for each one.

All the people telling that submitting to directories is important then please back up your claims with some proof.
Google clearly stated that it's going to penalize sites if those are associated with spammy link directories. Yes, some links coming from authoritative relevant directories are fine. But mass-submission of a site to numerous trashy directories is definitely not a good idea!
So try some extreme niche focused directories and that's about it.
And I would never advise anyone post to more than few directories (waste of time).

Yes, it still works, but do directory submission only in high quality domains.. If you do in low quality domains, then it is useless and waste of time

Directory Submissions still work.But When you submit Directory keep it mind that Submit only high pr directory Sites and Content must be unique and submit manually niche and relevant category.
