Does content locking still actually work??

Ok I've taken the plunge, got CLP, set it up... already seeing clicks, but my clicks arent converting....

I'm starting to feel like the networks' tracking isnt working. lol

Since this is a different form of IM, would you pro content lockers out there say that the main thing affecting conversions is the content being locked? or is it the locking gateway design itself? or the offer?

It's the content being locked and the delay used (if applicable). For example, if you are using it to lock a video, setup a delay so they get some of the video but have to fill out an offer to get more.
The kinds of offers you have can also affect your conversions. With content locker pro, you can easily do split testing to see what converts and what doesn't.

Perfectly answered, concise, and to the point. Thanks buddy!

Ok to follow up to this thread, heres what I've already done:

Bought content lock pro, created a locker with 3 offers , added it to my existing sites that get traffic for affiliate products (thats what I specialize in), and waited for some traffic to see the locker and decide if they want the content that bad.

Keep in mind, I drive traffic through organic search/seo so its easy for my them to hit the back button and check other results. (which is why I asked what the conversion depends on)

Anyway,

I'm pretty excited :)

I had about 1000 visitors see the locker. About 50 of them clicked offers, and 1 of them actually completed it. These are zip and email submits offers, so its not that hard.

These numbers suck ass , BUT... I'm excited because I was able to prove the system is effective. Now I just have to add some twists and lock up some better content, not just everyday products people can buy on ebay and amazon!

Thanks BHW for supporting me and my skepticism. If it wasn't for your backing, I probably wouldn't have tried any of this :)

Make sure the actual offer converts... If you aren't with MaxBounty or some other network, conversions are terrible. Go with a good network, where the offer converts on every email. Not every 50 emails.

I believe it is a growing business and soon people will think it is natural that they need to unlock content first to see it

That... or get "traumatized" by completing a offer and receive a misleading result, leading to put an etiquette of falseness. Either way, we are the ones who influences that, so don't mess around with it :) Use your brains and everybody will be happy.

Well after the complete my offer they get what they want, but they could have got it for free using google, but people are stupid

They're not necessarily stupid, if you're promoting the content and locking it (as you should be) then they may not have been looking for it in the first place. Depending on the type of locking, it may just be more convenient for them to submit a Zip code instead of searching elsewhere for your interesting content they just became aware of.

I've came around to 400$/day with content locking and have seen many affiliates rack in up to 4k+/day by content locking simple things like movie trailers. I understand where your coming from, thinking why would anyone fill in a survey just to see my content when they can just search online for free.

Little advice when you actually try content locking:
Affiliates usually give up when they first try out content locking because they just wont convert. What you got to keep in mind are two things, the offers you have up , and the presentation of your locker.

Offers: An example i will use is a movie site, what most beginners do is just fill up their content locker with high payout surveys like mobiles. What you need to keep in mind is that is your content worth the survey. Most users wont complete a mobile offers just for a video but instead would complete a email/zip submit.

Presentation: This is a really important part of content locking. Having your content locker match your content boosts your conversion rates and small technology provided by networks such as a tease timer or even a pop up on click of a button or video. Giving your user some type of teaser allows for better conversions

I'm working on a heavy duty experiment here and I'm dying to see the results because I think I can surpass the 400/day mark... :D:D

Content Locking works but you may have to look for easier niche than Movie/TV sites. These are really popular now.

Content locking does work, you only have to use a proper tactic. Just search some threads in this forum, you will find some great info.

sorry if I misled you...

400/day is something I feel I can achieve after seeing the results to my mini experiment (posted above). Yes, a few days ago, I didn't really know what content locking was, but my experience with the internet, web development, and marketing helps me pick up on things like this pretty quickly ;)

As a matter of fact, when I was 15, I actually locked content without knowing it and made my first $1k online lol... it hit me that content locking is just a more organized way of what I was doing. Either way, it's alot of fun to come up with things to lock.

Anyway,
I'm getting ready to launch a site Ive been designing around this (using content lock pro), and I'm going to start sending a lot of traffic. Hopefully my content is addiciting enough to bring me up to a couple hundred bucks a day, ill keep you guys posted.

spoof as in replace it with something else, or blank it completely?

CLP is still working great for me, be smart when use it and you will get higher conversion :)

Ok, this is definitely working...

$13.60 in just a few hours with this new approach I just took. Time to turn up the volume on the traffic .... :) :)

Thanks guys for supporting me and shooting down my skeptical thoughts of content locking not working, lol
