One thing I hate about myself that usually goes against my marketing efforts is that I'm always skeptical. That being said, I'm about to dive into this area of the internet and it honestly seems too good to be true that content locking can still work? It appears to me that the problem has always and still lays between the network you're working with and the content you're promoting?

Also, if this still basically works, and works well... what is the typical route to take...

    1. use a custom lock script with cpa ads from my own non-locker networks.

    or

    2. join a locking network (blamads, stuckads, etc..) and give them a share of the ad revenue in return for reassurance with the incentivized traffic ?

    Thanks guys..

Why would it not still work?

Content locking will always work, I can't think of any reasons why it would ever stop working.

I should have included more reasoning.... my bad.

    A few reasons...

    1. ALL CPA networks eventually might shun upon this and employ ways to check for it

    2. The market is so saturated, that its not as effective to lock content anymore.

    1) It's not the networks that matter, it's the advertisers. As long as the traffic is profitable for them, they will always take the traffic (assuming it's from a legal source). It can be harder in certain niches (e.g. movies), but there are hundreds of other niches out there that are just as effective.

    2) I don't follow your logic. That's like saying Adsense is saturated, so it's not profitable to use Adsense ads on your sites. People will ALWAYS click on ads and complete offers, that is never, ever going to die.

I want to know, whether I can use any kind of CPA offer in case of self hosted content locker like CLP? Will such offers ok's CPA networks?

Technically, you can use ANY offer you like. To keep with network TOS, you need to ensure the offer is content-locking friendly (most networks have offers like this). If you're just starting out, I'd recommend a network like StrongerAds to use with CLP. They are run by Oxonbeef and BassTrackerBoats, who are both trusted members here and I have no issues personally vouching for them both (which is very rare for me to do).

    1. I did mean the advertisers, which would eventually bitch at the networks about the publisher, which results in a ban. But I guess that's how the content-locking networks were born to begin with.

    2. You're right, I apologize for an ignorant comment.

Now as for "content-lockable" offers ... I'm guessing zip and email submits or any 1 field action doesn't fall in this category? I'm thinking peerfly, which is full of email and zip submits that pay well. But will they allow me to send traffic via CLP ?

seriously, I'm about to go with CLP v2 ... I just wanna make sure I'll be able to use it with zip submits and stuff like that via peerfly, or other easy cpa networks that wont mind paying 10k+ ....

Peerfly has no incentive offers so you would have to blank/fake the referrer which could lead to problems.

Peerfly doesn't allow incentives so unless you plan to blackhat and blank referrers, it technically isn't allowed.

I made 120$ today with only 350 clicks. So I'd say it still works pretty well :)

Can't you just blank or fake the referrer? How will that not work?

I don't think content locking will ever reach saturation. There are so many things to lock, it's not funny.

    Quite jealous... haha

Are you trying to say that If I drive traffic via SEO, that my conversions will plummet ?

i'm pretty new to im and i jumped right into content locking. i have 2 micro sites up right now and basically working on seo to rank my pages. im trying to pump out more sites, but im stuck on the kw research phase - having trouble finding appropriate content to lock esp with all the recent stuff.

i was beginning to have my doubts on content locking too (but i guess im new). so what are you guys locking?

edit: the networks im in are leadbolt, adworkmedia, and *******

Ok I've taken the plunge, got CLP, set it up... already seeing clicks, but my clicks arent converting....

I'm starting to feel like the networks' tracking isnt working. lol

Since this is a different form of IM, would you pro content lockers out there say that the main thing affecting conversions is the content being locked? or is it the locking gateway design itself? or the offer?
