Does anyone on BHW speak English?

I just spent the past hour browsing The Marketplace. Man, I like a laugh as much as the next guy but when a person isn't able to write sales copy for their own business/hustle it doesn't fill you with confidence!

I need a copywriter who can semi-regularly bang out 500 word articles. Right now, I'm willing to pay $5 for each piece. Brands will change but the topic will largely remain the same. I need someone who can re-write content, really. Very little on the research front is needed, and I'll deal with keywords and optimisation after the fact. All I'm after is someone who'll send me original copy that I can use. I don't want to pay these guys in The Marketplace if I'm going to have to baby them and re-write what they're giving me.

I'm copywriter stock myself and I can appreciate that my figure is on the low side and will offend some of the better writers but a decent writer should be able to get 1 article done in 15-30 minutes so hoping for a few bites. It's child's play, really. One of my side projects has picked up steam though which means I'm distracted/busy/demotivated right now and need some help with my (previously) main website!

For the time being, I need a minimum of 2 pieces (1,000 words) a week. But that figure will increase in the coming weeks so ideally I'd like someone who would be comfortable with 5 (2,500 words) a week.

British-English preferred but not a deal breaker. I'd also like someone who I can build a relationship of sorts with so being on Skype is a bonus.

You know the saying "you will get what you pay for", for $5 you will get $5 quality.

Yeah, bro, $5 won't get you much and especially nothing worth considering to be labeled as web copy. You might get an article for that much, but it'll need to be edited.

We spend around $140 per 500 words for website copy that is ready to go with multiple reviews. I'd suggest you do the same or write it yourself.

I know the saying. I'm happy with $5 quality. What I'm not happy with is -$ quality.

Of course, hence the admission in my opening post. But let's be honest. The world is filled to the brim with people peddling abject mediocrity at a premium whilst other talented individuals work for pennies - sometimes for free - just to get their foot in the door.

I don't need A+ copy. Just something created by an adult to feed Google.

I'm a writer but too busy to write for others atm. I do outsource for the same kind of rates knowing that I will spend 10 minutes re-writing every time. 10 minutes> 90 minutes + to research and write myself.

Yeah ok, I'd just go for the cheap article and then do an edit. Check out Natasha Nixon in the marketplace. They do well for SEO articles and you'll be paying around the $5 area.

He isn't looking for a masterpiece, he simply wants content that's created by someone in proper english, in the niche he specifies. Personally, I would request a writing sample or, FFS, just pay attention how the person interacts with you in conversation about doing the work. If they write like they don't have a good grasp on the english language and grammatical structure then simply do not pay them to do they work.

you do realise that $5 / 500 words is entry level dont you? $10 / 500 words would get you somewhere near the quality that you want

LOL...you make it sound like you are doing a favor to someone by paying them a whopping $10 for 2 fucking articles lol...for that price expect someone that can barely read/speak...

Not to knock anyone as I know English is not everyone's first language - but if you're going to be doing SEO for English markets or writing articles then you would be wise to get a decent copy writer and proof reader for your OP at the very least.

I was about to suggest you 2 excellent copy writers but then I seen the second part about $5.. decent copy doesn't come cheap. Even a decent rewriter won't work for that if they value their time.

I don't think people were trying to be hostile, I think people were just pointing out that it is unrealistic in searching for a UK writer to be doing $5 work, you may find them on Fiverr/SEOClerks or other freelancing sites but a $5 article is a $5 article no matter who writes it.
Anyway, all the best in your search.

I know the feeling OP, my point was that I just accept I will have to spend a little time on a re-write for that rate.
