IF you sincerely believe you are subject to the income tax, file and pay as above stated.
If you understand you (and most other Americans) are not subject to it, take the tax honesty route and do not, and from there on begin to lawfully resist the tax gestapo. IT'S NOT 'YOUR' TAXES, IT'S THEIRS, that the IRS is claiming to impose upon you, based on (mis) information reports you/your affiliate companies were intimidated into filing. Those reports are on IRS-loaded forms that mischaracterize your status and the nature of monies you earned. You should make efforts to correct that information, not act like you were servilely subject to the IRS. Or, you might choose, like 65 million other Americans a year, to not file at all (only 2,000 people per year get prosecuted for alleged tax evasion, most of whom filed). Your odds are objectively low of being charged is very, very low, regardless of what the fraidy cats say.
Either way, the IRS will consider misinfo report data received as an equitable basis for presuming you have liability, and to misapply its enforcement powers. Make yourself as judgment-proof as possible (to defeat illegal liens and levies being applied against your assets), get a foreign mail drop and re-sign up for your affiliate programs using the off-shore address. Stop using THEIR SSN, and thereby resist from the outset the tracking of your private financial activity at every turn, by an entity you are not subject to.
If/when the IRS barks and send you scare letters, kindly ask in writing that they provide you with verified proof of claim (not scary sounding, unsigned and unsworn form letters) that you are under their jurisdiction, or that a lawful or accurate assessment exists. Submit to them sworn statements that their data is wrong, and that they can not lawfully proceed with enforcement actions based on bad data. Add you conditionally accept their claims and jurisdiction subject to being supplied the evidence.
If they claim to have assessed you with penalties for defying them, kindly also request they supply you with verified proof that you are a) even subject to their assessments and penalties, and b) whether a lawful or accurate penalty assessment exists. You can separately submit FOIA requests to the IRS to supply you this verified proof (and guess what, the FOIA actually complies, and sends you a letter confirming this evidence DOES NOT EXIST in their files). If the IRS fails to provide proof of its claims, you are now able to document they have no basis for their actions, and have not met the terms of your conditional acceptance.
This is no magic bullet, but it work for those willing to endure the long war against tyrants and bullies. I have neither filed nor paid since 1999. After years of scare letters, I received notice from the IRS that they had closed my case, as they could not meet my evidentiary conditions, and could not find my assets. Yes, they DO give up, if you express the will to make clear you WILL NOT give up.
