It’s mostly for influencers to be able to brand “Promoted post with XXX brand” at top of post, instead of having to put #ad in the caption.

nah the thing that you talk you about is brand mentioning function that is available for a very long time. According to descriptions/manuals linked to that new tools it means that after i tag a partner in a post/story it will be seen in the ad manager of that account you tagged. So tagged partner (which sees your posts in the ad manager) can use your post as a a promotion material and boost your post giving you extra reach.

What you mention has been around for a while, under the same influencer function.
