Does anyone else feel like google avg search volume is always low?

I feel as though whenever you search for a keyword, on google adwords specifically, and you get results for the search and volume of the word, it always seems like the average number of searches are low.

Is this because it misses a lot of data through searches that don't go through analytics, or is it something I am missing. For example the number of "avg. monthly searches" is representing something else. (Maybe average to them is different than average to me when it comes to monthly search terms.)

Just wondering if anyone ever notices this or wonders why?

Perhaps the trick is in the word "average". Average means sum of the biggest and smallest number divided by 2 to me. It might mean differently to you.

I've thought the same before too. I primarily use it more as a reference point more than a definitive data point

yea exactly. Google is a great reference tool to see what people are actually searching for. Chances are if a keyword doesn't show up, it doesn't have high traffic. I would never go exactly by the numbers but I also believe they underestimate that actual amount of searches for terms.

Yeah, you know what I am talking about. Like a keyword I am not even thinking about using, but still look up for reference. I am like thinking, that's not possible.

Like for example, I did 'taylor swift' the one day just for fun a while back. It was around 1.9 million searches for the month. I mean, there is no way she is looked up that little on google, lmao.

Maybe add a zero or something, hah.
