Does Anybody Still do the "Sneaker" Method?

I've been hearing this method pop up from time to time, but I've never understood it. Is the idea that because sneakers are produced in limited quantities, bots can buy them out and then sell them for more money due to shortages? Can somebody explain or link to some resources on how this works, and tell me whether it still works?

Simple, bot purchases limited edition sneakers and they get sold to collectors.
Yes, people are still doing it and bots are more expensive now because sites are trying to crack down on it.
It is very competitive now but people still making money from it.

Yeah I think that is part of it and I think they try to use residential proxies/botnets.

Please don't take offence, I always forget that people take it as an insult but I just use LMGTFY as it is an easy way to post a search link.

The bot automatically fills out the order and payment details. Adds product to cart and checksout. The sneakers on offer are usually released at a set time/date on a first come first served basis so those bots hammer the site trying to buy as many pairs as they can.

Of course you have to pay the shoes, that's why those bots are working with PayPal, VISA and so on
You buy these yeezys f.e. for 200€ in my country (new one is ugly btw.// sale starts this friday) and then you're able to sell them for like 700-1400€ depending on the size and request for those limited shoes.

Is there really money to be made in selling or even "providing" proxies for this method? For this to be true, the blacklists on the sneaker sites would have to be far, far better than that of Facebook, Google, or CloudFlare.

I've reviewed 3 or 4 people selling Nike proxies in the last month or so... It's becoming a thing.

I would get guess they are catching bots by the number of requests they make per second or something. As this method becomes more and more popular the faster bots can load the page and see if they can buy the shoes yet the better as they are competing with other bots. If Nike see the same IP load the page 100 times in a minute they probably just block it.

So to get those kind of refresh rates you are going to need 100's of IP's which have not been used on Nike.com before.

I would imagine there is pretty decent money to be made if you can deliver what they want.
