Does Amazon Affiliate Program Allow this?

So I was watching this kids youtube video and at the beginning of the video there is a disclaimer he made that says to help support his channel change the address to the amazon button on your bookmark bar to the address to amazon with his affiliate code. Will amazon allow this? Or can he get in trouble. This is not my video by the way and I have no affiliation with channel, just think it is a pretty good idea, and wondering if it is allowed.

I really don't see a reason why not, then again Amazon has some weird TOS. I also don't see this making a drastic difference then just putting your product link in the description.

If anything I would skim through Amazon affiliate TOS and see if this is allowed and maybe twist it?

I just don't see people going through the trouble of doing this

Outing his video? Is me sharing his video going to have any negative affect for him? I just wanted to show exactly what I was talking about so people would understand my question and I could get a clear answer.

He is just suggesting people to access Amazon directly via his associate link. It's not against Amazon TOS in my opinion. If you want to be sure, contact Amazon associates support and ask them.

You're outing a competitor video hoping he's doing something that Amazon will notice on a black hat forum...

Asking is a great way to be passive aggressive.

Honestly man you make no sense and sound like an idiot. I am wanting to know if it is okay so I could do something similar not to get him in trouble.

Remove the video then. You already got your response.

I see two things that could get an affiliate in trouble.

1. You're not allowed to encourage or incentivize people to click on links. Incentivizing could be something as blatant as telling people that clicking through will donate to charity, or as seemingly harmless as "help support our website (Youtube channel) by using our Amazon links."

2a. Offline marketing. I recently read that a long time marketer was banned because a friend of his (without the affiliate's knowledge) bookmarked his link, then made a bunch of purchases through it. You can't tell people to bookmark your affiliate links.

2b. If Amazon can't associate a link click with a website session, they may not ban you, but you may not get credit for the sale anyway.

If you're purposely telling people to bookmark your link, that falls under 2a.

Go to the Amazon feedback or just their discussion boards and ask if you can direct people to bookmark your link, you'll get a more "legal" answer, but that's the gist of it.
