Does a "Dedicated IP Address" help SEO?

That’s a classic hosting upsell that has been floating around for at least 15 years. The reality is that the vast majority of the web runs on shared IPs and google is smart enough to understand how to handle that. They rank the domain and the content itself, not the IP address, so they aren't going to penalize you just because you’re on a shared server with other sites. You really only need a dedicated IP if you are doing something specific like running your own mail server where you need to manage your own sender reputation, or if you have some legacy security requirements that need a fixed IP for whitelisting. Outside of those niche technical cases, it does nothing for your rankings. You are better off keeping the money and putting it toward content or some quality links instead.

A dedicated IP doesn’t directly boost SEO, but it can improve site security, reduce shared-server issues, and sometimes help with faster indexing or email reputation.

No, a dedicated IP address does not directly improve SEO. Search engines rank websites based on content, links, user experience, and overall domain reputation - not whether the site has a shared or dedicated IP. The main SEO-related risk with shared IPs is only if you’re hosted with spammy or malicious sites and the server gets flagged, but reputable hosts manage this well. A dedicated IP can be useful for technical reasons (SSL, email reputation, server control), but it’s not an SEO ranking factor and is mostly an upsell in that context

I dont think it is. 7.5 million websites using Cloudflare service also another metric regarding CF is "approximately 32.8% of the top 10,000 most popular websites". So cloudflare IP pool is limited obviously. Well upon these metrics and facts, dedicated IP not effective, in my opinion.

I'm not sure I buy this idea but I'm looking at hosting that is charging me extra for a "dedicated IP address" that is "better for SEO" according to them.

Sure, it sounds better to have a dedicated IP, but does that really matter? I mean, surely it is the domain itself that is the primary driver of the authority and reputation?

I should know these basics but I've never seen this marketing before of upselling me a "dedicated IP" address
Search engines rank domains and content, not IP addresses. A shared IP is perfectly fine unless you’re sharing with spammy or malicious sites (which reputable hosts avoid). Dedicated IPs are mainly useful for things like legacy SSL, certain server configs, or email reputation—not SEO.

This is mostly an upsell, not a real SEO advantage.

I bet it helps, dear people when you check big sites who dominate google seo, then you will see all of them have a dedicated up address. So why? There must be a reason for this or do you think they want it because it's a funny nice thing to have? Think deep people.

Have a happy day!

A dedicated IP has no direct SEO benefit Google cares about domain authority, content, and backlinks, not whether your site shares an IP. Only in rare cases of spammy shared IPs could there be a minor indirect effect.

Dedicated IPs don’t really give SEO benefits anymore. Google’s said for years that shared vs dedicated IP doesn’t affect rankings. A dedicated IP can help if you’re running apps that need SSL before SNI or handling emails to avoid spam issues.

Yes, a dedicated IP address can be beneficial for SEO. It improves hosting performance and makes your website more valuable in search engines.

So then why all these big sites who dominate google SEO have an dedicated ip ?

short answer: no, it doesn’t help seo
this is a very old hosting upsell that refuses to die

google doesn’t assign trust or authority at the ip level -> it evaluates domains, content, links, and behavior

when it can matter (non-seo reasons):
ssl edge cases (rare now)
email deliverability
server-level configs
abuse mitigation

But yea that's about it, they don't matter at all in my opinion
