Do you write content first and then release website?

In general when I start a new site I'll have an article that is several thousand words on it when I make it live and then drip feed in content over time.
I don't like to have a site sitting there with no content as it could get crawled and indexed and cause more work to clean up what the search engines have memorialized.

In the past, I had prepared hundreds of articles per site and then scheduled them on the blog after setting it up.

Google is a strange duck.
I repurposed a site this week and all I did was remove all the content that was there, add in some new content and change the theme up and the site is indexed from A to Z and I did nothing.
You would think that it would take some time but it was 2 hours max before it the new content was indexed.
Sometimes with a new site G will index it quickly and other times cause a man to drink hard liquor.

It's not necessary that you already have a stock of articles for your website before you launch it, but the job would be much easier if that's the case. You can just have them scheduled for posting and write new ones as you go along.

If it is a web site and not blog then it is good to at least have 5 - 6 articles from start and afterwards add more pages and renew content as well.

Thats probably the most smartest way to handle that.
I was mostly more lazy, I made sure that on the day of the release there is definetly content on the site (never release an empty site) but the rest of the content would be written and published after the release.

Yes, I always try to do this. I generally have about 10 articles ready to publish, and that gives me a head start to publish them over the period of a 1-2 months while i produce more content. This way you can remain consistend during the difficult early days of a site and then reach some sort of momentum.

Yup definitely learned my lesson this time and am collecting a stash of articles to ensure that I'm consistent.
