And not those Disney World Mickey/Minnie Mouse sites?

One that will stand the test of time through all the crazy banana Google changes (sorry @Meddie, should I have added in Bing too)?

Then you need to build it out over time in a fashion that makes a container ship look like a kayak.

The key, Folks, is rank a silly number of KWs and not your main KW which is probably super hard to rank and unreasonable for you guys with your 5 page, John X Factor (remember those days?) 3,000 word site that is embarrassing your friends and family and they know nothing about internet marketing.

Do your KW research and generate thousands of KWs and start at the bottom and build up to the top by garnering rankings for the easy ones and slowly move up the food chain to the harder ones.

You see the more you rank for the more you will rank for.

The theory, which is not a theory, but a practice I put in place for my sites and for my clients is get Goog's attention with KWs you are ranking for and then the Goog will see you are not playing games but rather offering a site that has a tremendous amount of KWs that are searched in their search engine and will give you credence to the new KWs you are working to rank.

Success Breeds Success.

I had an old friend who was big on that in business back in the day (about 35 or so years ago) about building a business on providing success in one area and adding on in ancillary areas to build out his business. He's gone now but if he were around he would be making us all look like 5 year olds when it comes to IM and we would all be washing his laundry and polishing his shoes. Sporbor knew his stuff and freely shared it with his friends and did very well. He also lived a very cool life before he went into business as a roadie for Bruce Springsteen and had great stories from that time period in his life.

But I digress as to Sporbor's personal life.

The Minor Details

Let's say you have a site about Michelin 3 Star Restaurants. Surely ranking for that is not going to be easy as there are a bunch of them and they all have authority (well maybe not all but most). One would love to be on the first page of Best Michelin 3 Star Restaurants but that won't happen unless you can win consecutive gold medals in the Olympics in 14 different categories, or if you follow along and put in the work I am sharing.

So you do your KW research on the topic and get some 15K KWs or so. Yeah, you need to get a silly number of KWs to start building out an authority site.

Then you manually cull that list eliminating duplicates, semi duplicates and KWs that your tool sucked at getting and it just generated KWs that are really not related to the niche/topic.

You will go blind but will end up with real KWs that are related and real KWs that can make you money (after all, we are in the industry to make money).

Maybe you end up with 4,000 or 5,000 KWs or so.

Sort them by easiest to hard in whatever you use for your data base management so you have them all shiny and looking like they are ready for Junior Prom.

Then do the following (don't hate me for this yet):

Start by ranking the easiest ones first even though they won't make you a plumb nickle. Money is not the point here. I know, some of you are thinking, "what is this jackwagon saying after I spent XX on my KW tools, 25 hours cleaning up the list, 4K on eye surgery from the effort and another 300.00 on reading glasses as I am now maimed for life?".

This is a long term deal and an authority site is like Rome, not built in a day.

Rank those KWs, rank images that are related to those KWs and slowly build out from there. It is going to take some time but it is worth it over the long haul as the more you rank the more you will rank.

Not only that but the more you rank the more Goog is going to say, "This Son of a Gun has something!" and will show you love and affection you cannot get from even the most loyal dog.

Sports teams build their team to compete for 3 - 4 years or so in general and then rebuild. That is the nature of the beast and those of us that are fans understand that and are fine with that process. Owners of sports teams build their franchise to go from a value of millions to a value of billions and that is where you want to be.

Be a team owner and not a player in the game here and pound the work out and build out sites that will not be affected by the updates we see people whine about here and other places.

Let them whine as that is their right but let you prosper as that is you should you put in the time, energy effort and deal with the author of this thread jackwagon's commentary.

You will win and winning is a pretty good feeling.

I will let this video here, pretending I am Tom Hardy promoting Bing. Bye now!

Thanks for this informative post. How does one rank keywords from easiest to hardest?

Saving this for my next project. Thank you so much! ;)

Why is this in the lounge? Petition to move this to the Making Money section.

Good read BTB.

Very appreciated.

Liked before reading. My old pal always share awesome stuff.

Amazing tips @BassTrackerBoats its almost the reverse of what most people focus on with an authority site. Sounds like a solid plan though and one that I’m sure works.

The thing is, once you’re ranking for all of those long rail terms that are surrounding the main keyword, it’s also going to be a no brainier for google, to put you right up there for the main keyword.

More important point here though is your wizardry with words.

Have been doing this kind of butterfly effect posting lately and it seems to work. Thank you for the encouragement!
