Do you use cold calling?

My niche: Web design, full website creation, and local seo.
Campaign: Give short script for telemarketer to use and target areas within USA

I've been hiring Fiverr sellers for cold calling and was wondering if I should stop this at once or keep going. I've received a few leads back with my campaigns, but they are all cheap budget pricks so far So any upfront advice with what I should do? My script is "This is XYZ calling on the behalf of ZYX and can change your online presence.....etc

I have 12 scripts that I gave out and that starter right there has been the one that brought me 4 leads back but I'm getting low budget leads that I kinda don't want to service because of their $200 budget for something that's too big to do. E-commerce for $200 is HARD to do when they want you to list everything their way and use their pictures. You guys get the point. Advice is appreciated. Started this cold calling last week. Might have 2 new hot leads today but I do not know their budgets or what they want done.

For $200 I'd tell them to kiss both sides of my ass, frankly. That's ridiculous. I'm not sure that cold calling is bad itself, but it sounds like either your scripts, call lists, or Fiverr sucks. For $200 cheapo sites you could sell services here on BHW just as easily.

Your advice is appreciated and I do agree that cold calling isn't that bad because maybe I'll strike someone that's real and not another cheap slum that has nothing better to do but daydream about a slave. I'm quoting her $600 for 25 products and I'll copy and paste her descriptions, pictures, and anything else. Free template. This web design game is hard to get into. I'll stay away from Black Hat World and stick to people who I can call personally and chat with on Facebook. to be honest I'm aiming for bigger budgets than bhw current. I've done web design, trust me I know how hard it is to squeeze a living out of it... especially early on. If you are REALLY good at sales, and can sell SEO or PPC management along with the websites, then you have a chance of making a good Freelancer living out of it. But the problem is that static (or e-commerce Wordpress) web design is a small dollar game. $500-$2,500 is what you're looking at usually. There is more money in SEO and PPC you'll find, and building somebody a site is often just the way to open the door to selling them $300/Month of PPC and $1,200/Month of SEO.

The other problem with web design is build time relative to price. If you charge $2,000 for a site, but it takes you a month to launch that site then you max out at $24,000 a year... which is (where I'm living) not a great living. If you aren't a large scale web developer who sells $10,000 projects you're best off selling easy and quick sites that you can launch within 10 days of the sale. Anything longer and you'd BETTER be selling them SEO/PPC as well, otherwise you'll never get rich.

I tried webdesign for 2 weeks.
After a few lousy local clients wanting the whole "shopping, facebook integration and flashiy responsive shit" for 199€, it deleted the ad.

honestly.... if its HARD for you to get clients, traffic, leads, wtf, you are seriously in the wrong place, niche, traffic source, whatseover...

and you will ALWAYS be strugling for leads and clients.. like 29/30 days a month..

I use web design as a "free" bonus for the pcc and social management services I offer. When coupled with what really makes money (fooling ppl into allowing you to control their advertising for better results) you will be able to put some money in the bank for a rainy day or stay at home vacation.

i've done and sold my company to an agency here in my place. i made quite good actually. sell it since being bored and trying to do other things. from my exp, repair your cold calling script. one of those that do me well such as, "hi.i am xxx calling from xxxx. stubled upon your website on xxxx when seeking xxxx suppliers for my client. you have good reputation in the industry but it is hard to know more about your product and service from your website. i could offer the service to make your website much better and proffesional. could i speak with whom in charge?".

if you make a direct offer most ofthem will reject it. kick around the bushes a little bit and get to the person in charge. customer service dont care a shit the service you offered by their boss might consider it. show some quote by those billionaire out there who talk the importance of website.

I'm working full time in a company that doesn't have anything to do with IM but $24k/year isn't bad for site building. No hard labor that will get you hurt but our brains is what I worry about. Will they run dead after awhile or slow down? I'm going to quote higher than $600 and offer some side Gig's for these leads off the phone. Your advice was helpful and I'm adjusting for better conversions regarding prices "if" they sell! So fingers crossed and thanks.

This will work for some people and my scripts can sound great with that word "free" and "website". I'll first get my gears running forward and test that tactic out. Thanks for the post. Sounds unique, but I've heard it before. It's something I should defiantly add to a call script when running cold calling campaigns.

Yes, I'm fixing my cold call script because it does stink some. I am now just getting into that creative mood from the replies here on this post of mine and thanks for your post here too! Anyways what I have is two American accent English speaking Filipinos who dedicate their bed time to cold calling for me. They leave voice mails and always have the recording ongoing just in case another person picks up and decides to say yes to the scripted offer. I'm having a little problem explaining to my two team members that they have to use a better expression when reading the script and sound more aggressive/interested besides that plain voice. It gets boring to cold call and I guess when you're on the clock you happen to start falling asleep in your mind. Zombie calls... A bored voice reading a script quickly. Anyways thank you!
