Seriously though.....GIMP is loved by the Linux community. When you see a statement like that you better prepare yourself from a heavy duty learning curve.

It wasn't so hard to pick it up.
And if you compare it to Canva, of course it's a bit more complicated. But seriously, we're talking about an image with some text, not 3D modeling. It's not that hard.
Does it have more functions than canva, what are its pros compared to canva?

Gimp is more advanced, I find it more intuitive compared to canva, because it works well with layers, like photoshop. Canva is decent, but I just hate it when pictures are sticking to the background or a simple drop shadow is changing the size of the image. The best way to know what you like it to just try it, it's a free software.

It is a game changer - especially for quick designs - I use it also to convert logos to SVG
