Do you think I should declare bankruptcy

for 17k I'm not sure I would

I did file bankrupcy myself about two years ago but it erased a lot more then 17k

And you can still file for bankrupcy in the US you just have to watch watch what you make so you don't get stuck in 13 vs 7.

Ask a lawyer for the details.

While it is strange that someone would discuss bankruptcy for their first post here, it is not all that impossible. Many people read here for a while before they begin posting.

Ok, and this may be true as well. The question was posted in the lounge which is very appropriate.

CW has been a member here for more than just a day even though they only have 3 posts. Curiosity got this cat and I started snoopin around.
His forum has been up since 2005 it seems, but hard to tell what kind of action is going on there. I did listen to a couple of the audios provided - and if our original poster is real, then this very well may be CW being in the right place at the right time - or got some info off an RSS perhaps.. Some of the methods I just listened to sounded very convincing - and it's not like he just slapped up his website yesterday. Found a post with this date on the forum:02-03-2005 - can you fake that? Perhaps. CW did not reply until roughly 7 hours later.

I would expect nothing less than CW to sound very canned as from what I just listened to he has been doing this for a few years and has canned himself in a sense. He has told his spcheal (or spcheel - looking this word up with no results) so many times and it reminds me of my waitering days. I had some canned descriptions on some of the items I used to sell b/c they worked great and I used them for so long I could reply to someone without really having to think. It was second nature.

Then again, I have seen master sock puppetry at work before and if it was all a set up I should not be surprised.

Ok, will go back to lurking.
 
I've seen his the Credit Wrench website before. I do believe he's been around for a while. I don't know him from a hole in the ground though. That was the first thing I thought when I read the thread though, that it was a set up.
 
your girlfriend did you a favor....screw her and pay your bills off...DONT declare bankruptcy it'll screw up your credit for years(7-10)...while messed up credit without bankrupcy can be fixed in a couple for years. two years my credit wouldn't get me a movie from blockbuster i started calling all creditors and making plans with them now i got a mortgage and car...it's hard work and i worked like three jobs but now it's all fixed...sorry about mom

it did look like a setup, but I would think someone smart enough to do this type of set up, would be smart enough to NOT use the their business name as their name here, it would just make it seem too obvious. but who knows
 
Way to many of these type of posts over the last year. If your telling the truth then I feel for you but you need professional advice. This is an IM forum. What's you're reason for coming here with your sad story? I could maybe understand if you've been around for awhile but......

Hi all thank you for all your advice. I have been reading your replies and it is unfortunate that someone is calling me a spammer. However, I don't know who is creditwrench. I thought he was only trying to help me. I am sorry that some of you feel that I was spamming. As I was going over the replies, I can understand how some of you were trying to analyze what I had written and have doubts. I guess this is how the minds of successfull blackhatters work :-). I hope, several months from now, I will attain the same level of thinking and would get smarter. My intention was to ask for your opinions since I feel that you guys or girls are more experienced than I am since you are all smarter. I know that I am only new here and told you about my problems right away. It was good to get of my chest and for someone to listen and gave advice. If you got offended I apologize. Also, I have been spending a great deal of time here today trying to read and learn as much as I can. A lot of stuff, I don't understand yet but I will keep reading. Again, I can assure you that my intention was to ask for advice and learn as much as I can here and hope to make contributions in the form of knowledge as I learn more since I am broke right now.

and maybe you should start looking into global wait times for operations and doctor visits before you think socialist medicine is the answer.

Would you declare bankruptcy in my situation? It seems that the interests of my credit card keeps going up. I have been barely making the minimum payment. What are the pros/cons of declaring bankruptcies?

I would advise you to consider settling the debt. I would give a phone number of somebody I know personally but they're a client and I think that would violate the tos here.
 
I don?t post much but on this subject I must.. at the risk of embarrassment and being flamed

After almost 40 years of stellar credit, in the high 700?s and never having ?welched? on a debt and yet I am being forced into BK and not for just 17K, more like 100K or more.

I?m not asking for pity nor a handout I made my bed and I?ll sleep in it

Not everyone that is in financial trouble nowadays is a deadbeat, not everyone has had control over the economical situation around them, not everyone wants to file BK but what else can you do when even the creditors are suggesting it.

Every day I?m on this forum trying to find some way to make a buck with the knowledge and skills that I have, everyday I get up and go to a nothing go nowhere job at a very large discount chain for a wage that pales in comparison, because at 60 years who gives a crap, too young for SSI too old to start a new career, make to much at my piddley assed job to get aid don?t make enough to get loans every f**king day I keep on trying to make just a little bit of progress.

Easy for some to say ?pay your bills you deadbeat? but when the time comes to decide heat for your house or the CC card, what would you choose? When the time comes to decide gas to get to work or the CC what would you choose?

I hope to god that those who have made it stay blessed because trust me you can loose it far faster than you made it.

It's not "free" in Europe either since they have to pay an assload more in taxes.
