Do you know a good screen recorder?

I am trained by an instructor who sits with me at my desk and shows me on my PC screen what I should be doing in terms of using special company software for specific processes. I know there are many screen recording software but I need something that will work in the background, i.e. that the instructor will not see that such a software is running, for obvious reasons.

snagit - give it a try. captures both screen shots, and also video that captures screen activities

Agreed with Camtasia. Very simple to use.

Camtasia always works for me. Also, it lets you edit the capture right away which is a big +!

It’s paid software but there are so many ways to get it for free, just google a li’l bit.
 
I tried OBS before, very complete, but quite complex and a bit hard for a newbie. Camtasia is more newbie-friendly, but not as complex or as complete as OBS
 
I use Loom on a daily basis. It's usability and features are beyond amazing.
 
Usually I use QuickTime on OSX systems. It's built-in, fast and compress output video pretty efficiently.
Also loom for daily small screencasts, but it's more for short videos, I believe.
 
I use camtasia it is very simple and affordable. However some other members recommended good software that can help you make videos
