So do you have a Raspberry Pi?

I was thinking to buy version 4 and do a blackhat project with it. Basically build a mass spam site generator and use it as a web server to serve thousands of sites. But i don't like spending money on stuff i'm not 100% sure i will actually use.

What cool shit have you done with yours?

Why you would need rasp for that? Vps would be enough. Dont complicate your life with rasp. I have rasp and I use it as home linux server that work 24/7. If you need small home linux server for few simple scripts rasp is perfect, otherwise its waste of time and money.

There was a SEO project with a software that linked many raspberry pi for geotargeting purposes (traffic via virtual browser) in people's houses. Very cool project overall.

I have the raspberry pi 3b+ and use it as a mini retro gaming console.
It is inside a megapi case from retroflag.
It took me like a week to tweak everything to my liking.
 
Version 4 is a big improvement!
But while less popular, the Odroid n2 is like 3x times as fast as the Pi 4.
Also, the Rock Pro 64 is another good alternative that is faster than the Pi 4.

The only problems with the other boards is the video drivers and mainline kernel support.
You could be stuck with a board which video drivers only work with an old kernel version.

It has ARM cores. They are slow. It's not meant for this kind of stuff. Use a vps/dedi.

I'm just playing with shields and peripherals - reading/writing values via bluetooth / web. Nothing that makes money though, just my learning process.

Is shit with WordPress and bloated CMS' but could work with my lightweight CMS.
I started using WP as a spam platform. So much more complicated than my lightweight CMS. Have to develop a bunch of plugins for WP now to achieve what i did in my CMS in a couple of days.
 
Sorry for asking but can anyone tell me what's an mass spam site generator? How does it actually works and how is it profitable?

A script/system that you give a list of 20k keywords let's say and it generates you ready made sites 24/7. If you know how to use it is profitable.

No doubt, but wanted to use a Raspberry PI for fun.
I also have a MiniITX server with a Intel Core2Duo E5200, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD.
 
No, why I need one? :)
Thought some time ago to install smart-home function's but... why i need something like auto lights outside and etc I can switch them manually :)
 
Why raspberry pi instead of a VPS?

+ it's right at your fingertips, you can do anything you want with it (I had a cheap VPS that would consume too much resources and was automatically disabled, had to open a ticket to get it enabled)
+ it's cheap and you own it
+ you learn lots of stuff about linux and web servers and programming in general
+ loads of interesting projects (flightradar24, ad-blocking, security cameras, ...)

- you need to keep an eye out on sd card, because it will get ruined eventually
- backups are your responsibility
 
My Pi is collecting dust behind the router
 
I have one. I used it to scrape stock market data. but there is a limitation. only 1 GB ram and the processor is slow compare to "Desktop PC". using it as a web server is not efficient.
