Do you feel mentally drained?

i feel really wise and shit load of ideas come to my mind about projects when i am alone.

working 18 hours a day seems really not that bad when you are making money and doing things you like.

But if you need to maintain balance, you will have to take breaks between work, also need to go out for fresh air and do some exercise, also need to give time to family.

You need to get away sometimes. Try the pomodoro method of timing your activities. This is essentially work blocks that come with breaks. It helps a lot to clear your mind and step away from the computer for a bit. Remember, you need to work hard, but you also have to live life as well. Go out for a walk, hit up the gym or simply sit in the backyard for an hour. Eventually you will burnout if you don't step away for a bit.

You know you just registered freshly and talking about this?

So just because I registered to BHW means that this is my first time spending too much time in front of the computer? Think before you post something please because your useless comment doesn't benefit anyone here at all. Actually your post doesn't surprise me because It's pointless just like the other ones you post on this forum.

Good advice everyone.

Would not agree with getting drunk as f***. Personally, I cant get out of the bed next day after a proper party, so time/energy/health is wasted

Dresden, I feel I've seen you around. Anyway, if you ever need any tips or just a bit of motivation, feel free to hit me up. Our health is everything and even I get caught in bad phases and spurts of burning myself out because my life isn't balanced. There's been times I would have to walk away from the computer for a few weeks at a time to get my drive back because I spent too much time working and not splitting my time between work, excersize, hobbies and family.

I run my own business with many clients along with the 50 something websites I have to maintain on top of sitting on about 100 domains that i have to build sites on before they become a waste of money. It's very hectic and stressful and highly overwhelming, Lol.

I can imagine It's very stressful. I'm actually from the 313 too, well from the 586 but on the other side of 8 mile/Gratiot area.

4 hours day maximum....no exceptions. i too went through this and took 3 years off where i couldn't bear to switch my computer on. (burn out) So you have to be smart. No nights, no weekends, etc....keep it balanced. You only have one life.

Try stretching for about 5 minutes every 2 hours or so. Set up an alarm/reminder for it. By "stretching" I mean getting up your ass to do whatever you want. If you don't feel like stretching, try talking to somebody, play with a basketball, whatever.

the PC certainly gets addictive - and I do get worn out after long periods online doing things.

I'm with the others - I take a swim - go for a walk and going to start doing some simple weights - to just mix things up.

so yeah - this part of it is just as important as making money.

Do some of you feel mentally/emotionally drained from working too many hours on the computer? I've been spending 12 hours + on the computer for over a month now working on IM. I barely go outside now, I just sit in one room most of the day working thinking that this is really important and I put everything else aside. Do you guys get like this? I think I'm going to take a few days off to get my head straight.

I only get mentally drained when i spend too much time on something i dont want to do or dont have interest in. (like school wrok)
Lately ive been doing a ton of research and doing my best to learn about seo.
Literally day and night ..i like it though.
just hit the gym, and go relax outside a few times a weeks to come back to normal.
I find thats what helps me..

It's possible you have a mildly obsessive personality; when you get into things, you're in for the long haul. Or not... :)

Do you do the same thing with... say, a 100 hour role-playing game - you just play nonstop until you're done?

I find myself looking for more work to do after the work is already done (I write resumes). I stare into space sometimes, thinking about busy work.

I guess my advice is try to do something... ANYthing, before you start your computer day. Take a shower, read a chapter in a book, have a nice breakfast (at a dinner table). Constantly remind yourself you're not trapped; just tenacious. Outside life might suddenly take on a greater importance. I'm sure your constant workload has left you with some spare funds to treat yourself once a week. Good luck.

I do have my own routine, It's just that I got so into things again that I put other things aside. When I get into something I try to learn about it as much as I can. This is just important for me and my girlfriend right now because were running low on funds and I'm working hard so I try to put everything else aside for now. I'm just wondering what some of you do to break free sometimes.. good responses.

ya I fvcked myself up working sometimes 28+ hours before sleeping. it payed off because I made good cash from it but in the end it's not really worth it. if you don't have amazing health then you don't have anything. pretty sure I have adrenal fatigue from all the abuse I put on myself lol.
