Do some of you feel mentally/emotionally drained from working too many hours on the computer? I've been spending 12 hours + on the computer for over a month now working on IM. I barely go outside now, I just sit in one room most of the day working thinking that this is really important and I put everything else aside. Do you guys get like this? I think I'm going to take a few days off to get my head straight.

i don't feel mentally drained, but when i go offline after long periods of work, real life feels strange and everything makes me dizzy! i now take a 15 min break every two hours to avoid the uncomfortableness

Thanks for the reply guys. I just got so into it that I've been spending 18 hours a day sometimes.. good thing my girlfriend is so supportive of this lol.

Panoush, I've realized that I get like that too. When I go away from the computer I feel weird, but when I get back I feel fine again haha. I've been pushing it, time to take a break.

Iv said it once, ill say it again. Whatever time you wakeup at eg. 8:00am, wake up an hour before and hit the gym. Do whatever you want, cardio, wiehgt training, sports whatever! Just get your heart rate up for 30mins to an hour. This will give you amazing energy both physically and mentally for the whole day. Give it a shot! Not only will iy help with your work, but also gets you in shape and summer is approaching fast, and what is an IM without a hot girl?

Good advice from some of you guys. I was just wondering if It's just me or is it a common thing for some of you.

I need to try this! I was watching a documentary about Will.I.Am the other night, and he only sleeps 4 hours each night, he likes to be productive for 20 hours every day. Wish I could survive on this little sleep!

Try it man! Yes for sure, many successful people only sleep 3-5 hours a day. The key is to train your body to do it though. Will.I.Am and others didnt all of a sudden decide to get 4 hours sleep overnight, it takes weeks even months to train your body to get little sleep. I get around 5-6 hours sleep, and have been for the last year or so, and let me tell you, it is SO much better than the 'recommended" 8+ hours which in my optinon actualy isnt as healthy as people claim it to be.

    I do this everyday.

Wake up > drink some plain water. On computer + browser mail for 1hour. After that, I go exercise(skipping + push up + dumbbell) all 30minutes. After my body already sweat > I go shower.

Feel really refreshing and energetic after that. :D And don't forget to eat clean too.

I have to hit the gym to keep me sane, I'd advise any IM who spends most of his day on a computer. It's very bad for you mentally and physically, it's not natural. I would get so bad that'd I'd wither away on caffeine and not even a meal a day. Wasn't getting sun, vitamins, protein, the normal things that humans naturally absorb.

If working out isn't your thing, just do anything physical for 30 minutes to an hour whether it's skateboarding, skating, playing hockey, football, etc..

Here's what I take every morning:

    2000 mg Vitamin C
2000 mg vitamin D drops(water soluble, I mix this in with the vitamin c drink.)
Multivitamin if you want, I don't take these though. Fishoil also helps you look good.

5000 mg B12 drop under the tongue.
Whey Protein Shake with a big bowl of cereal.

Then I have my coffee and I hit the gym. Normally if you're trying to put on some weight you want to wait until the hour after you're done working out to slam it. Remember to keep yourself hydrated with water > Caffeine and stay away from the red bulls.

You don't have to kill yourself in the gym either, do what you can, just get your heart and blood pumping. I start with cardio, I jog about a mile and then I hit the weights. A half mile is fine, just get the blood pumping as I said.

Try these above steps for a couple of weeks - a month and report back on how you feel! Breaks and exercise are a must if you want to keep your sanity and flourish in this industry, it helps keep focused and get your creative energy flowing like crazy.

    :]
