Not many people talk about this, but I’ve started going back to old backlinks and asking for updates to anchor text or even reindexing. It actually helps push new pages or support a shift in SEO direction. Anyone else doing this kind of backlink maintenance?

I've never done this before, I'd rather get another link on the same site or link from the same post/page on my site to the new page I want to push.

I’ve recently started revisiting some of my older backlinks too — mostly to update anchor text or change it to something more relevant after content updates.

In some cases, just tweaking the anchor or asking for reindex via GSC made the target page jump a couple positions, especially for newer content linked from older posts.

Curious — do you also ask for replacements when old links lose authority or just update what’s already there?
