Do we pay too much for mobile phones ?

I think it depends on the person, what he does on it or buying just to flex.
My best bet right now as a semi-broke teen is to buy a used phone for like 200-300 euros, because the $200 new phones starts to trigger me after a short while and I don`t wan`t to spend too much money on a phone. I rocked an used galaxy s8 for a while but in september I bought an iPhone 8, because one handed use was important for me. It has warranty till april and cost 300 euros, which is a good deal where I live. Also a lot less depreciation happens.

About the OP original question. People like good quality stuff. Quality is associated with price. For you $1k maybe are a lot of money, but realistically speaking any citizen of developed country can spend $1k every 2 years without much of a thought. Thats probably less than money spend for coffee in this 2 years.

I remember reading on Quora dot com that this veteran of the military found out she was being monitored on phone , it was a motion detected devise . I was just guessing why a phone could be priced so high . I wasn't asserting a answer . Sorry if I offended anyone.
I have been looking into phones motion sensors that track our movement for 1 year now and I have come to the conclusion that when we download certain apps on our phones there are 3rd party viewers who can see what we are doing . I'm afraid that we all are getting spied on by a 3rd party. This is why Everytime I drive by a deltaco the commercial comes on my phone on YouTube . It's because they knew I drove close to deltaco by tracking the phones GPS. I'm sure you will know what I'm talking about give time once weird stuff starts happening to you.

The reason for me is that my contact runs out. I then think, I can spend a "little bit more" a month to have the newest phone, with only £50 upfront cost! Deal.

The reality should be; keep phone you have until it's useless, paying less money a month, then buy a new phone with the saved money.

The first is more appealing, is a new phone man!!

Yes we do, I bought an Iphone 8 few yrs back when it was the best at the time, I paid almost $800 bucks with tax included, I got unlocked so I could change carrier anytime I want, I had an unlimited plan that cost me $50/month, now I got a great deal with my Internet company for $20/month mobile service, just gonna change phone when they release an Iphone that is compatible with 5G

For sure. Especially compared to the shitty batteries they're coming with without exception. They're packed with useless features more and more year by yead, but they still can't put at least half-decent batteries into them.

"Weird stuff"? You agreed to all t hat by signed to use those services. Your can even test it. Say "dentist, i need good dentist, i have toothache" around your smarthphone with activated Google services. See how ads for dentists start popping. Its not a secret, its right there in the T&C - if you want to use google voice services, you have to agree your phone to listen to you 24/7. You can even check what recordings it have on you here (and delete it) here:

But is no secret. There is no conspiracy. There is no mysterious 3rd party listening to show you ads. Its all things you agreed on, when use a smartphone. Its your choice.

I use my phone for about 30% of my daily business tasks so I want it to be as fast and functional as possible. That way it’s more efficient and I can do more in less time.

Its similar to a computer - you can buy a laptop for £300 or £1200. As you go up in price I guess the benefits get comparatively smaller, however, if you want to keep tweaking productivity you go for the better, faster and more functional model.
