I have been studying and participating in the fan page market (buying, selling, building, etc) for the past two months or so.
It appears to me that the majority of larger fan pages (100K-1M range) are currently stagnant--not gaining anymore fans on their own. At one point these pages were either organically viral or had some sort of invite push during a time when the invite to "LIKE" conversion was in some cases 5-10X what it currently is.
For some of you more experienced with this market or others who may speculate like myself, do you think that viral fan pages still exist? Are the days of reaching 1M fans without having a national brand or global brand over?
Additionally, in your opinion, what are the best formulas for reaching these numbers?
I will start by providing a little bit of feedback and advice from my end. I like asking questions via statuses, and or potentially sometimes even using incentivized statuses as I call them to engage the user base. This increases the activity (creating a more active fan base), but also creates additional impressions by keeping you in the TOP NEWS section of the newsfeed for longer periods of time.
Hope this helps someone! Looking forward to hearing what the rest of you facebook goons think about this
