Do the Freebies/Giveaway rules need updating?
The rules were set in 2012, it seems to have become a free for all with members setting all sorts of rules. Some set a rule of 20, 50 and even 100 posts minimum. Looks like anything goes with people making it up as they go along. Some members have been told they can't get the Freebie/Giveaway because they fail to meet that particular members own rules they set.
Why not have a minimum number of posts to be eligable for all giveaways, it would give some clarity as each Freebies/Giveaway has different rules.
What's your thoughts?

the most common one is people promoting products services aff links
as none payed members. all u can do is report them.
even with a list of rules idiots will still try and be idiots.

There is no requirement on the person giving away the items to adhere to a minimum post count or any other metric for giveaways. They can set as they see fit. As per the rules posted here. https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/warning-rules-before-posting-here.472210/ Or am I missing something. ? Why restrict who people are able to give things aaay to based on postcount? If they want to influence the community they are best server offering it to those members with a higher post count but that may not be result they are looking for when it comes to the giveaway in question.

I read the rules for this but didn't see anything about minimum post counts. Some members miss out because they fall short of 100 posts minimum for the giveaway. That's what I meant. So what difference does it make if a member has 10 posts or 100?

It's mentioned in this thread.

You can put requirements on who is allowed to receive it, for example:

- JrVips only
- 10+ posts
- 100+ reputation
- etc.
So what difference does it make if a member has 10 posts or 100?
While some people create arbitrary requirements for the sake of creating requirements, there are times when setting a 100 post count requirement makes sense. For example, if you feel your thread is at risk of being abused by people who are just going to create duplicate accounts to claim multiple freebies, members are less likely to go through the effort of spamming 100 posts on a duplicate account than 10 posts.

Is there a reason that this shouldn't be allowed? Those that are looking for reviewers have a Jr VIP+ requirement sometimes and if they should be able to do it, why not freebies?

For example, if I'm offering a free content writing services out of sheer generosity, I would do anyone, but if im giving a free service that would take a bit of money on my part but I want to do it out of generosity, I would only accept those with higher post counts or Jr VIP as they contributes far more than those with 1-10 post count.

These are examples only. The point is if you want to restrict who you want to offer the give away to you may. BUT you have to state that in your opening thread giveaway.
IE you state "I will give XXX to anyone who has 11 posts or more and is a premium member" - if someone requests that give away and qualifies per your requirements you MUST give it to that person. The restriction is applied by the person offering the giveaway NOT BHW.

Think that's fairly clear. If not drop me a pm.
