Do StumbleUpon Likes Really Increase Traffic?

I recently had a boost in traffic due to StumbleUpon so I am looking into expanding my StumbleUpon strategy.

Do likes/thumbs up help increase traffic? And,if the answer is yes, would it make sense to pay for likes to a StumbleUpon page?

I recently acquired that program and I'm learning how to use it. Does it just post your page on a social bookmark? Or, does it do anything to promote it?

Cuz i have had certain pages on stumble or reddit that just sit there and are completely ineffective
 
It just submits your URLs to the social bookmarking sites, that's it.
 
Yes it does increase the traffic but it doesn't convert at all. In short, its totally BS traffic.

You are doing it wrong. I made $1900 (would have been $3800 but I was doing a JV I now earn full %100) in a single month with just using Stumbleupon. ;)

Stumbleupon popular gives consistent traffic for an year and more..
I have made few populars over there.. The bounce rate is high..Also they dont click ads much..
Good to have traffic from difference sources :)
 
I know it's stupid to ask, but just for curiosity. Any clue on the method you use to earn so much.

What works for SU traffic? I tried almost everything and did not make much. I was expecting far more than what I earned from the traffic I got from SU.
 
Well I have heard people rave about it but I haven't personally tried this yet. Seems like mixed results on this thread..one saying he made $1900 another saying SU is good for traffic but you make nothing. I really wonder who is right.
 
Sooo . . . what's the verdict on this? I've been interested in promoting an album on stumbleupon but i've been hesitant because I heard it doesn't convert. I've also heard that targeted niche stuff does well . . . ???

You can very well convert the traffic if you have a good strategy in place. Here is one for you:

On the page where you want to drive traffic to have a song or a short compilation start playing automatically to capture people's interest. Have only the best, most effective part that you feel represents your music best.
Keep the page very simple with only a single "call to action" button: eg. "subscribe to my e-mail list and receive a free track instantly". The idea is to capture that quick passing traffic and the best way to do it is by offering something of value.
Keep the e-mail sign up form simple and easy. Best is if it doesn't take people to another page but is rather embedded or a java-script pop-up.
After you have them sign up for your e-mail list, you can start with your stage 2: e-mail marketing. Don't just blast them with "buy my album" e-mails, but rather send interesting stories about you, how you wrote or recorded your music, why etc. Then, plug in your album.
There are many ways to go about it and this is just one example.
The main point is that you capture that traffic in some way!
 
Yea, buying stumbleupon likes would actually be an excellent idea. The more likes you gt the higher you will get on the rankings, you could hit trending if its good and get a lot of new traffic.
 
I remember I used to get big SU traffic but as it was mentioned in this thread - bounce rate was high and traffic didn't convert. (although I suppose it may convert if you are in entertainment industry)
