Everyone talks about skill in the market timing trades , reading charts , reacting to news .

Personally , I think most of that is overrated .

From what I have seen , people who trade more usually earns less . The ones who just buy solid companies and hold tend to do better not because they are smarter , but because they stay out of their own way.

That said , patience only works if you are holding good businesses . Holding trash forever is not discipline .

To me , the real edge is emotional control. Staying calm in green markets is easy holding through red is where most people fail.

So yeah , my take:
The market rewards patience more than skill but only for those who knows what is actually worth holding.

Curious what others think has the game changed , or are people just overcomplicating it?

Even coming to a place of patience will require some funding

Before the funds is a proof of value
The skills are only to provide that value which you get paid for

So, while at one end, you require patience, at the beginning, you require something, just about anything of value to exchange for money itself which set one on a pedestal of growth
