Many services here and elsewhere offer some element of social signals. From what I have seen they're bot networks on social websites that post out your desired link. I haven't measured any significant change worth paying extra for those signals. So I want some opinions from my blackhat friends here if you think it's helped you?

In my experience, they don't affect rankings directly at all. However, in 2017 it is rare you will find "hot" content that is linked to frequently but isn't shared on social media platforms. I'd say people generally use social signals as a means to justify backlinks, and as we all know most blackhat seo is all about making things look natural.

+1 for joesph. Social signals might not help you rank solely but it gives the sense of genuineness to search engine.

It is like you are getting published on high authority blog (Aka PBN), you are getting into web 2.0 and everyone is talking about you but you are missing completely from social platform. How obvious it is for anyone to guess that you are self promoting in other places and hence no social proof.

I understand social presence helps search engine to verify that all other links you are getting is justified and you are not buying them out.

if u get social shares from cheap, new build profiles, then u may never effect. but tweet , share, +1 from good profiles those have back links and active. that can get get you good boost. But with mix of other good links (PBN etc..)

IMO they help but i have issues testing it on larger scale without buying links.

if you think of it, sites need nofollow links. if its 100% do-follow then its bad. if its nofollow, why not take links from authority sites like FB etc instead of some unknown ones

Social signals are used to justify amount of traffic and links you're getting.

They don't affect rankings directly. Maybe for very very low comp keywords.

only Social Signal will not rank you top position ,but if you get real social signal,Then you can get some real traffic.

Great replies I've enjoyed reading them. Yes Joseph I understand what you're saying and agree. Very well put. Buzzsumo is a good tool I was playing with to see what social signals a very popular article is expected to have.

I'm interested in this as well.
Do social signals from expired hq twitter accounts help rank?
I see people offering such services in the marketplace

You should not be using social signals to increase a pages ranking on their own. Use social signals as proof to Google that your backlinks you're building have been earned. If you think about it, people share a site they liked on Facebook or Twitter, its gains traction and awareness and a bunch of other sites then refer/link to the post just because its popular on social media.

YES, they do have a positive impact...........but not in the way you think.

Most people would think that they just need to fire up software to get tons of social signals and BAM, #1 in the SERPS.

It doesn't work that way

REAL social signals indicate the quality of your content

The higher the quality of your content, the higher the chance that bloggers / site owners and other people LOOKING TO LINK to naturally great content would link to you

No need to buy links

No need to twist any arms

That's where social signals can come in handy. They form some sort of SOCIAL PROOF that your stuff has LEGS and people catering to certain audiences might want to pay attention to your stuff.

Does this happen QUICKLY? No.

Is this easy? No.

But it does happen and it can be MADE TO HAPPEN thanks to tools like buzzsumo, mass planner, and others.

IMO the social signal Impact on your Traffic They don't effect keywords ranking

In various tests I've done I don't see social signals having any effect on rankings. Maybe they help in "trust" or "authority" or some other way that can't really be determined, but I don't think they effect SERPs results.
