I beg to differ. Is marketing targeted at IM clients, using IM techniques and aproach - hence, it is IM. It is not computer science because computer science does not sell stuff. CS builds stuff. You can get the most amazing coder and he will code you the greatest tool, but without marketing you won't sell 10 copies of it. Coders are 10 a dime. They are plenty and you can hire them. To make money from software, you need to sell that software, hence marketing/IM. Is better to have average software and a great sales system than to have a great software and an average sales system. Proof is SENuke which is far, far away from great/effective software, but they had great marketing. As a matter of fact, if you remember 1st version of SENuke it looked like shit. When I saw how popular they made it I was like "who the fuck buys that crap?!". Then, as a proof they are great marketers, they did a new version focusing on what their clients wanted - not effectiveness but bling! They didn't made a better software for SEO, they made a better looking software.

In short answer yes, just keep your head down and work hard, sacrifice what most will never and in the future you will have a good life.
