I've opened 3rd want to buy thread and I would be scammed 3rd time if not simple asking for screens:
-donk sent me screen after 25 minutes
-I've checked the screen in Google Images, then found 45% match screen on...first result oO
came to open a shit list on BHW but user banned (probably tried to scam many other users and he had some success)

It's ofcourse not BHW fault or staff fault. Any account can be stolen like in above case but if you are making purchase, especialy on WTB section, do not trust any one. He can be JR.VIP, ex VIP or even moderator. One hour and you are speaking with different person ;/

Avoid: bitcoin, gift cards, always demand for verified PayPal, payoneer or wire transfer. If you want to pay with bitcoin, always ask for payment after sending goods (demands reputation but it's only safe way for btc).

You can trust only people on Marketplace

I've had terrible luck in the freelancer section in general. Stick with the marketplace, they are at least known entities. Most the lurkers in the freelancer section are there for a reason. Most I've dealt with are either incapable of delivering what they promised or scammers.

If you have a dispute, you can always apply for a Shit List thread where it will be overseen by a moderator, and if the individual turns out to be a scammer, they will be permanently banned. That is all we can do.

That is not just a BHW thing. This is with any site that offers services you go to upwork something can happen there. Best thing is to verify as much as possible. Heck you can even be scammed by a local person as well.

Example we were hiring for a support position. Guy comes in and can answer all questions just fine. Interviewed well references checked out. So I hired him. First day in Training we give them a mock issue the guy had no clue. Let's say he did not come back after lunch.

It can happen anywhere and anytime. Just do what you can to protect yourself.

If people haven't got the common sense to see potential scams, they either should not be allowed money to spend or should go elsewhere.

I've added a marketplace note but still, no PM business, better if all payment and contact info is clear in thread. I've saw few threads with "PM ME" on marketplace. It shouldn't be allowed to limit fraud. Maybe sellers should put email or other contact methods, not PM.
I've seen few people scammed on marketplace in the past because account stolen.

Personally I don't tend to use the freelancer section because of that reason - you are just getting a random person doing work for you, so how can you possibly know if they are going to do a good job.

I rather use the marketplace so that at least I know the seller is actually providing the service on a regular basis (ie they should have some experience). And then I just build up a list of providers that I trust for different jobs.

Having said that, I think there have been some new rules in the freelancer section so that you have to be jrVIP to respond in there, is that right?

And I disagree with your point about jrVIP - I think 95% of the time you can trust jrVIP members, or at least jrVIP members who have been here for some time. Not that they are different to other members, apart from the fact that they are investing their money and time being here - me for example, I spend a lot of time on here, I pay jrVIP subscription every year, I hold my BHW account quite highly so why would I want to rip someone off and lose that status?

I've always said if you're willing to take a gamble then you may lose. If you're not prepared to risk the money then insist on escrow.

For large transactions escrow should be a must anyway, if the seller isn't willing and wants the cash via an insecure method then I'd walk away.

Any genuine seller who believes they are delivering quality won't have a problem with this.

Guy says PP of CC is fine, you are protected to a larger extent.

We do a lot to keep the scammers from hurting the membership but if a person is going to pay via a way where they can't charge back there is little to nothing that can be done.

I've told that it's not forum fault or staff fault just wanted to warn other users. My thread title is just little agressive. I respect work to keep this forum in good condition, have a lot of smaller forum with 500 users and I know it's nightmare.
