I like the new system.
It's comment-centric, so if your video sucks, someone will comment, "Awesome video! I like this because [...]". And, if other users agree, they will give it a thumbs up, and it will climb all the way to the top. And if someone makes a flame comment, people will thumbs down the comment, and the comment will fall into oblivion.
Same case if you make a shitty video, people will voice their opinions (it IS YouTube, of course)
It's much more meaningful than the 5-Star Rating system... and it weeds out the crappier videos that don't really provide much value.

I like thumbs up or down more so then star ratings.. people really only rate all or nothing.. 5 stars or 1 star.. if you're indifferent and would vote something in the middle (3 stars) then you don't really need to vote anyway. up or down.

It's still more convenient with the rating star system even if people only rate 5 stars or 1 star.
For example, a video can still get an average of 2.5, 3, 3.5, or 4 stars... which gives the viewer a better idea on the quality of the video rather than guesstimating its value through a number of likes and dislikes.
